BRISTOLVILLE — When the tournament season rolls around, any game can be your last.

Bristol coach Mike Armour has been drilling that message into his kids’ heads since their last regular season game. In the playoffs, it’s all about surviving and advancing.

The Panthers did just that on Wednesday, scoring three goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 victory over Crestview in a Division V, Northeast 1 district matchup.

“I think they were a little nervous to start, but once the nerves kind of got out of their system, I thought we started playing a lot better, and we started controlling the middle of the field a little bit more,” Armour said.

Bristol’s three-headed monster of Jenna Perris, Deserae Raymond and Lauren Church combined for all five of the Panthers’ goals.

Raymond and Perris each had two goals and Church scored the fifth.

Even though the Panthers didn’t put together their cleanest effort, Bristol has too much talent up front. Someone is going to get a quality chance and put it where it needs to be.

“It’s always fun watching those three and watching the entire team,” Armour said. “They all play some pretty complimentary soccer when they need to, and today, I thought it showed up. Because if one’s off, like their touch was off a little bit today, they do enough to get one in. Somebody’s going to get a good look at some point.”

Crestview’s season ends at 3-12-3. It was a rebuilding year for the Rebels, which replaced five important seniors from last season’s group. New girls filled those roles, but were new to the sport, so learning was the major focus this year.

Now, with a year of experience under their belts, the Rebels look to use this as a foundation to keep improving in 2026.

“We’ll work in the offseason. Hopefully more than we have, that’s been a big thing,” Crestview coach Maura Belding said. “We’ve been lacking (in that department.) When I was in high school, we didn’t really do stuff in the offseason, so we’re starting to do more this upcoming year. Hopefully, with girls being inexperienced and coming back and doing that, we can build the team back up again.”

Bristol (17-0-1) now awaits its next matchup. They’ll take on the winner of Cuyahoga Heights and Columbiana, who play on Saturday. A Columbiana victory would be a rematch for the Panthers, who played to a draw with the Clippers earlier in the season.

With almost a week to prepare, Bristol has plenty they want to improve on going into its next match.

“(We just want to) get better passes, and a little bit better movement without the ball,” Armour said. “At times I thought we were a little flat. We’re kicking and watching, so we’re going to work on our ball movement. We’re going to work on moving without the ball, and just finishing.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
