Boys and girls soccer brackets released

The high school soccer season is coming to an end, and the tournament brackets for the boys and girls postseasons were released by the OHSAA on Sunday.

Sectional tournaments will take place Oct. 13-18, the district round will be Oct. 20-25 and regional play is Oct. 28-Nov. 2. The state semifinals will be Nov. 4-5, and the state championships will be Nov. 7-10.

BOYS

Warren G. Harding will open play in Division II with a sectional final with a trip to Walsh Jesuit on Monday. That same day, the Falcons of Austintown Fitch will travel to Medina Highland for a sectional final, and Boardman will host Normandy.

On Oct. 18, Canfield will host the winner of Holy Name and Akron Garfield Community Learning Center in a Division III sectional final. That night, second-seeded Howland will host Niles in a sectional final.

In Division IV, West Branch will open the Northeast 1 bracket by hosting Woodridge on Monday in a sectional semifinal. Girard and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will face off in a sectional final on Oct. 18. Crestview is in the Northeast 2 bracket, and the Rebels will host Clearview on Oct. 15 in a sectional final. There will be three local teams in action when the Northeast 3 bracket begins play on Monday, with Hubbard hosting Ursuline and Lakeview traveling to Canton South. Cardinal Mooney and Poland will wait to play until Oct. 15 as the Cardinals host Villa Angela-St. Joseph and the Bulldogs welcome Conneaut to town.

Division V Northeast 1 will open when Jackson-Milton travels to Columbia on Monday, and Grand Valley will see Warren JFK make the drive to Orwell on Oct. 16.

The Northeast 2 bracket has four local teams, beginning with Lordstown traveling to Oberlin on Monday. On Oct. 16, Badger will welcome Pymatuning Valley to Trumbull County, and on Oct. 18, South Range will host Independence.

In the Northeast 3 pairings, Brookfield will face Medina Christian in a sectional final on Monday. On Oct. 16, Mathews will drive to Smithville and Liberty makes the trip to face seventh-seeded Bristol. Meanwhile, the Northeast 4 set will start on Monday when Labrae travels to Cleveland Baird Early College. Oct. 16 will feature top-seeded Champion hosting Columbiana, and Heartland Christian traveling to Canton Central Catholic.

Northeast 5 play will have all local teams playing on Oct. 16. Mineral Ridge will host Chippewa, and the winner will face Newton Falls.

GIRLS

Warren Harding will await the winner of No. 3 Highland and Akron Firestone Community Learning Center on Oct. 21 with a Division II district title game appearance on the line. That day, Austintown Fitch will travel to Mayfield in a district semifinal.

Division III will see All-American Conference rivals Canfield and Howland square off in Canfield on Oct. 16 in a sectional final. Meanwhile, that day, Boardman will travel to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, and Ursuline will head over to Rocky River.

The Division IV sectional finals will have eighth-seeded Salem hosting Akron Springfield on Oct. 14 and Hubbard traveling to Orrville. Additionally, top seed Niles will welcome Akron Coventry, Champion will host Struthers, second-seeded West Branch will play host to Crestwood, fourth-seeded Lakeview will face Jefferson and Girard will play Conneaut. Poland will face the Girard-Conneaut winner in the district final on Oct. 21.

In Division V Northeast 1, No. 4 Bristol will face Crestview on Oct. 15 in the second round, and Columbiana will see the winner of Loudonville and Cuyahoga Heights on Oct. 18 in the sectional final. Northeast 2 will begin when Maplewood travels to Rootstown for a sectional semifinal on Oct. 14. The winner will face Garfield on Oct. 18. And on Oct. 15, Newton Falls will travel to Norwayne and LaBrae will drive to Waterloo for sectional finals. The Northeast 5 bracket will have sixth-seeded Springfield hosting Brooklyn on Oct. 15, and on Oct. 18, Brookfield will travel to Youngstown to face fifth-seeded Cardinal Mooney.
