Boardman 1, Poland 1 — Poland’s Salvatore Carramuso scored less than three minutes into the match, but Gabe Hammerton tied it up for Boardman at 19:31. Andreas Tsikouris got the assist for Poland (0-0-1), while Oswaldo Salinas got the assist for the Spartans (0-0-2).

Howland 2, Salem 1 — Howland edged out Salem 2-1 on the road Wednesday, with Daniella Pagano and Madison Schmitz each scoring a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Taylor Fairchild saved two shots in the net for Howland.

Canfield 2, Louisville 0 — The Cardinals improved to 1-1-0 on the season with a shutout win against new conference rival Louisville. Lorieona Jannone scored both goals for Canfield, with Elise Kovach and Lexi Toporcer assisting. Cardinals goalkeeper Elliot Klimas saved nine shots in the victory.

Warren G. Harding 2, Hubbard 2 — The Raiders and Eagles drew 2-2 on Wednesday. Sophia Rising and Kiley Hamady scored for Hubbard, and Leighton Komlanc assisted on both goals. Eagles keeper Marla Thomson recorded eight saves in the draw. Hannah Brown scored both goals for Harding, the second of which was assisted by Jayda Hayes.

Niles 9, Struthers 0 — The Red Dragons shellacked the Wildcats to improve to 2-0, as Kherington Stanford scored four goals and Emma Merlo, Maddie Yost (2), Taylor Bickerstaff and Faith Bionci joined her in the scoring frenzy. Stanford also recorded four assists, while Bickerstaff, Yost, Merlo (2) and Cali Rodgers assisted on goals.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Newton Falls 3, Southeast 0 — The Tigers cruised to a 2-0 record with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-10 win on Wednesday against Southeast. Torrie Fanton led the way, recording 33 assists, 20 points, and 16 digs. Jada Blutcher, Hanna Wright and Kirra Howard added 14, 10 and 10 kills, respectively, while Madi Knight had 18 points and seven aces. Wright also earned 10 digs, and Howard recorded four blocks.

East Palestine 3, Leetonia 0 — The Bulldogs swept the Bears on Wednesday in a 25-16, 25-4, 25-4 victory. East Palestine’s Amara Wilson notched 16 points, nine kills, eight aces and six digs. Cami Kridler led the way in terms of assists with 12, while adding eight points, six aces and six digs as well. Destiny Burtyk had nine kills, eight points and three digs, while Kennedy Andre had six assists, five points and two aces. Alyssa Dilling added five digs for the Bulldogs. Kacey Williams recorded three points and one ace for Leetonia.

Crestview 3, East Liverpool 1 — The Rebels rebounded from a 25-17 first-set defeat with three straight set victories (25-12, 25-20 and 25-19) to win their season opener. Crestview’s Lainey Auer had 33 kills, 19 digs and four aces in the victory, and Sophia Stewart had 46 assists, 16 digs and five kills. For the Rebels, Sophia Noling had eight kills, Kerrigan Miller had 23 digs and two aces and Addison Wendell recorded 15 digs on the night.

Brookfield 3, Badger 0 — The Warriors eked out wins in the first and second sets before a dominant third to clinch the 25-21, 25-23, 25-13 victory against the Braves. Alexia Baker led the way in digs for Brookfield, tallying 19. Sarah Lindholm, Rylie Burdge and Elaina Boyce added 12, six and five, respectively. Burdge led the team in assists with 25, while Cassie Samios had three. Maci Phillips had five blocks, and Burdge and Samios each had three. Samios and Boyce also each notched six kills, while Lindholm had four. Samios recorded three aces in the win Wednesday. For Badger, Alison Price led the team in digs with 15, and Morgan Hall and Maddie Lindus had 13 and 12, respectively. Sarah Miller recorded five kills, Katelyn Tunison had four and Price did as well.

Campbell 3, Springfield 1 — In a loss, Baelyn Brungard set a new single-game Springfield record with 28 kills on Wednesday. Brungard had 17 digs as well, and she was joined by Julia Vecchione, who had eight digs and four kills. Erika Grinstead tallied seven digs and 10 service points, while Olivia Flynn had 22 assists.

Lordstown 3, Bristol 0 — Mia Giesey had 11 kills for the Red Devils, while Kaycee Was was credited for 15 aces and 15 assists. Neveah Philips recorded three digs, and Kelsey Giesey finished with a block. Bristol stats and the set scores were not reported.

McDonald 3, Mineral Ridge 0 — The Blue Devils were consistent as they won 25-21, 25-21, 25-21. Ava Salomone led the Blue Devils with 11 points, four aces, five digs, five kills and 13 assists. Grace Klockner had a team-high 16 assists with four digs and two points. Miley Titus added nine digs and two points, Aubrey Evans finished with six points, six digs and five kills and Halle Kuntz chipped in eight kills and five points. Mineral Ridge stats were not submitted.

Liberty 3, Chaney 2 — The Leopards won 26-24, 22-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9. Further stats were not reported.
