BASEBALL

Maplewood 2, Badger 0 — A pitcher’s duel was decided thanks to a run in the second and third innings for the Rockets to claim the contest over the Braves. Kenyan Clover was nearly perfect on the bump, with his only blemishes being a pair of hits surrendered while striking out eight in the complete-game shutout win. Offensively for Maplewood, Tyson Webster singled twice. Tyler McWilliams was given the loss for Badger, tossing seven innings while allowing five hits, no walks and striking out two.

SOFTBALL

Canfield 9, Marlington 7 — The Cardinals found themselves down by five after the top of the second inning but rallied back with three runs in the bottom of the frame, another run an inning later and three more in the bottom of the fourth. The Dukes were scoreless until the last inning to earn the Cardinal victory. Paris Lindgren earned the win in 5 2/3 innings, allowing three hits. The Canfield offense was led by Leah Figueroa with a home run, triple, single and four RBIs, Alexis Johnson belted a two-run home run and a single, Jenna Triveri doubled and singled and Marina Koenig doubled. In the loss, Chelsea Miller belted two home runs, doubled and drove in three runs while Maddie Bailey doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs.

Lakeview 9, South Range 4 — A five-run fourth inning propelled the Bulldogs to the win over the Raiders and to the team’s eighth consecutive win. Isabella Isenberg picked up the win in the circle for Lakeview, throwing a complete game. She allowed six hits, no walks and struck out five. The Lakeview offense was led by Kalyssa Werner with a double, two singles and four RBIs, Annaliese Dejulio added a double, single and two RBIs and Linnea Kovac doubled and singled. Rupert was given the loss for South Range, allowing a dozen hits, two walks and striking out five in the complete game in the circle. Pauline doubled for the Raiders.

Maplewood 4, Badger 0 — The Rockets blanked the Braves to improve to 13-3 this season. Addison Marker tossed a three-hit complete game to earn the win, striking out 13 and allowing one free pass. At the dish, Raegan Krieg singled twice and drove in two runs while Claire Urchek, Marker and Aleesia Woomer each collected a pair of singles. Samantha Bradbury was given the complete-game loss, fanning six while surrendering 10 hits and a walk. The Badger offense was headed by Kyleigh Hall with a triple and single.

West Branch 4, Alliance 2 — The Warriors claimed the low-scoring affair over the Aviators thanks in part to a home run by Addi Craven in the top of the fourth inning. Craven also drove in a pair of runs to lead the West Branch offense, while Mati Hawk and Zoey Carreon each had a pair of hits. Ellie Tucker picked up the win in 4 1/3 innings, fanning five while allowing two walks and two hits. Alaina Minear was given the loss for Alliance, allowing a pair of hits and no walks while striking out two.
