BASEBALL

South Range 3, Girard 2 — The Indians led for nearly the entire game but the Raiders wouldn’t be denied, scoring three in the final inning to earn the walk off win. Gavin Hiscox picked up the win in relief, tossing two innings while striking out two, walking none and allowing no hits. At the plate, Gaven Nagy doubled and Hiscox helped his cause with two RBIs. For Girard, Dom Tolone was given the loss in 6 2/3 innings, striking out seven, walking three and allowing four hits. At the plate, Zach Ward doubled.

Champion 5, Niles 2 — The Golden Flashes took the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth and remained on top to claim the contest over the Red Dragons. Leading the way at the plate for Champion was Carter BOggs with a pair of singles. Bradey Quinby picked up the win in seven innings, striking out 12, walking two and allowing eight hits. For Niles, Brixton Gilmour singled twice and was given the loss on the bump, tossing seven innings in which he struck out seven, walked two and allowed six hits.

LaBrae 7, Crestview 1 — As the contest waned on, the Vikings needed to get on the scoreboard and did so in a big way with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and ultimately claim the game over the Rebels. At the plate for LaBrae, Landon Brunstetter doubled and singled, Lucas Glaser singled twice, Nathan Goldner had three singles, Ethan Magoulick doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Colton Hall singled twice and drove in two runs. Brustetter earned the win on the bump, tossing a complete game while striking out six and allowing three walks and hits. In the loss, Isaac Unkefer doubled and singled. Zachary Davis was given the loss, tossing 5 1/3 innings while striking out three, walking one and allowing 10 hits.

Jackson-Milton 7, Mineral Ridge 6 — Although they were down two heading into the final frame, the Blue Jays plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off the Rams. A host of Jackson-Milton batters recorded a base knock, but the spark came from Dom Krol and Joey Modarelli with doubles while Anthony Krol tripled and singled and Jaiden Scott drove in two runs. Ryan Grey picked up the win in relief, tossing two innings while striking out two, walking none and allowing two hits. In the loss, Brody Molina doubled and Justin Dailey drove in two runs. Dom Balestrino was given the loss, throwing 1 1/3 innings in which he struck out two, walked three and allowed three hits.

Newton Falls 4, Brookfield 0 — Cameron Huff twirled a complete game shutout as the Tigers claimed the contest over the Warriors. Huff fanned 15, walked two and scattered six hits in the win. At the plate, Wyatt Wheeler doubled and drove in two runs. For Brookfield, Brandon Hardman was given the loss in six innings, striking out four, walking none and allowing four hits.

Ursuline 2, West Branch 1 — After knotting the game in the third inning, the Irish broke the deadlock with a run in the sixth to get past the Warriors. Anthony Triveri claimed the pitcher’s duel, striking out 12 while allowing three hits and one walk in seven innings. At the plate, Thomas Kosovan doubled. For West Branch, Anthony Perry was given the loss in six innings, striking out seven, walking six and allowing four hits.

Warren JFK 7, Mogadore 1 (6 inn.) — The Eagles got hot late, plating 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to earn the win over the Wildcats. Sparking the offense was LaPolla with a double and single, Bartoe singled twice and drove in three runs, Ryan doubled twice, Bolchalk drilled three singles and drove in two runs and Sanata and Morrison each singled twice. Rinck earned the win on the bump in four innings, fanning five, walking one and allowing three hits. For Mogadore, Reese was given the loss, scattering nine hits, walking two and striking out five in five innings.

Cardinal Mooney 5, Hubbard 1 — Two runs in the opening frame and three an inning later was all the Cardinals needed to topple the Eagles. Keeping the offense at bay, Ben Oddis picked up the win in six innings, fanning nine while walking one and allowing five hits. At the plate, Andrew Bushey doubled and singled, Ford Stacy doubled and drove in two runs and Oddis helped his cause with a double. For Hubbard, Matthew Bobovnik was given the loss in five innings, striking out nine while walking three and scattering five hits. Offensively, Bobovnik and Brayden Songer both doubled and Johnny Reyes singled twice.

Howland 4, Wooster 2 — The Tigers claimed the division three region 11 opening round contest over the Generals to advance to the next round. Howland drilled 13 hits and was led by Mary Moy, Brianna Deeter, Calleigh Luman and Madison Schmitz with a pair of singles each, Brooke Tatar drove in two runs and Maya Kubancsek homered, singled and drove in two runs. Tatar picked up the win in relief, throwing a perfect five innings while fanning four. For Wooster, Mcafoos was given the loss in six innings, striking out five, walking none and allowing 13 hits.

Canfield 14, East 0 (5 inn.) — The Cardinals claimed the division three sectional championship over the Golden Bears thanks to a strong offensive outpouring and a combined no-hitter. Caylee Ortiz and Adalee Crowgey combined for the no-no, striking out 11 batters between the both of them. At the dish, Makayla Brown singled four times, Sophia Seiple tripled, doubled and drove in three runs, Jenna Havrilla doubled and singled, Alex Ignazio and Crowgey each singled twice and Kitt Testa doubled and drove in two runs.

The Brookfield offense exploded for 15 hits and was charged by Mya Jumper with a double, single and three RBIs, Madison Obermiyer had a pair of singles and RBIs, Madisyn Fisher had three singles and two RBIs, McKenna Penwell singled twice and drove in two, Alana Jervis doubled, singled and drove in four runs, Mariah Norris singled twice and Elaina Boyce doubled. Obermiyer picked up the win in five innings, striking out six, walking none and allowing four hits. For Lisbon, Ammon singled twice. In the circle, Peruchetti was given the loss in five innings, striking out four, walking none and allowing 15 hits.

Regular Season

South Range 12, Jackson 5 — Thanks to seven runs in the fourth inning, the Raiders pummeled the Polar Bears. Leading the offensive onslaught was Spooner with a home run and two singles, Aey left the yard twice and drove in four runs, Brogan doubled and drove in two runs and Pauline singled twice. Rupert picked up the complete-game win, striking out four, waking two and allowing six hits. For Jackson, Moden doubled. Seders was given the loss in 1/3 innings, striking out none, walking one and allowing seven hits.

Columbiana 14, Southeast 5 — The Clippers exploded for 15 hits and cruised to the win over the Pirates. The potent Columbiana offense was led by Maryn Hepler with a double and single, Caitlynn Pleska homered, singled and drove in two runs, Addison Brode singled twice and drove in four runs, Cameron Perkins singled twice and Katie Hogan had three singles and RBIs. Brode earned the win in five innings, striking out three while allowing two walks and six hits. For the Pirates, Muncy and Mesaros both singled twice. Bragg was given the loss in 2 2/3 innings, walking one, scattering eight hits and striking out none.

Lakeview 14, Poland 6 — Lakeview claimed the battle of the Bulldogs with the big win over Poland thanks to scoring early and often. The 13-hit Lakeview offense was sparked by Kalyssa Werner with three singles, Kennedy Bartlett doubled twice, tripled twice and drove in three runs, Mackenzie Stowe drove in two runs, Isabella Isenberg singled twice and drove in two runs and Ella Collins lent a double. Ava Bacon picked up the complete-game win, striking out six while walking three and allowing nine hits. For Poland offensively, Kylee Hudran singled twice, Cassie Blanch doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Elliana Thompson doubled. Addison Draa was given the loss in seven innings, striking out three, walking six and allowing 13 hits.

Region 6

Cardinal Mooney 17, Green 3 — The Cardinals dominated the Bulldogs in the opening round of the playoffs. Leading the way was Sophia Rotunno with five goals and three assists, Natalie Blasko and Molly Simons each scored three times and tallied an assist, Oliva Scott found the back of the net twice and Lexi Italiano, Gabby Hardaway, Brooke Campbell and Dara Bogan all scored once while Frankie Cassese lent an assist.

Poland 10, Akron Hoban 5 — Individual statistics were not submitted.
