REGIONAL SEMIFINALS

DIVISION I

Massillon Jackson 10, Fitch 5 — At Baldwin-Wallace, the Falcons were unable to make it a three-peat after falling to Jackson. With Fitch up 3-1, the Polar Bears scored nine runs in the top of the fifth to take control. Abby Toth hit a solo home run for the Falcons, and Alyssa Rodgers had two RBIs. Morgan Roby added an RBI single and scored on a fielding error, and Kaliana Ray scored twice.

DIVISION IV

Lakeview vs. Elyria Catholic — Play was suspended in the first inning. The game will resume today at 5 p.m. with the winner taking on Perry in the regional final on Friday.

Northeast 1

Poland 2, Chippewa 0 — Poland advanced to face Norwayne in the district final at 6:30 on Friday at Bob Cene Park in Struthers. Stats were not reported by print deadline.

Northeast 2

Keystone 2, Lakeview 1 — Keystone walked it off with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to end the Bulldogs’ season. Nicolas Aho took the loss after he gave up two runs — one earned — on five hits and two walks, striking out four in six innings pitched. Brandon Toot allowed an inherited run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning of relief. At the plate, Toot singled with an RBI, Carter Doran doubled and Asa Lantz scored. Isaiah Lantz also added a hit.

Cardinal Mooney 6, South Range 0 — The Cardinals got six shutout innings of work out of Ben Oddis, who surrendered six hits and four walks while striking out one. Taco Verroco struck out two in an inning of relief to shut the door. Ryan Reese went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Cardinals. Kaden Reese added a hit with a run scored, Ford Stacey drove in a run and scored once and Vince Gentile had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Will Petty and Oddis each singled and scored once. For the Raiders, Lincoln Cleevely and Andrew Brian each had two hits, while Gavin Hiscox and Julian Tranovich each singled. Tranovich took the loss after allowing five runs on five hits and three walks. He struck out six in five innings of work. Cardinal Mooney will face Keystone in the district championship on Friday at Mentor at 5 p.m.

Waynedale 11, Crestview 0 — Stats were not reported by print deadline.

Northeast 4

Canton Central Catholic 10, Champion 0 (6 inn.) — Canton Central Catholic scored in every inning to knock out the Flashes. Bradey Quinby took the loss, surrendering five runs — four earned — on three hits and five walks. Quinby struck out four in 2 1/3 innings in the start. Carter Boggs recorded two hits to lead Champion. ZacK Morris, Konner Reed and Carter Chapin each added a single.

Warren JFK 11, Mathews 1 (5 inn.) — Andrew LaPolla threw a one-hitter and the Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to trigger the run rule and punch their ticket to the district championship. LaPolla allowed one unearned run and a walk with seven strikeouts in the complete game. At the plate, LaPolla helped himself with a 3-for-3 day, including a double and a triple, with two RBIs and three runs scored. Dom Ryan doubled twice and singled with three RBIs and a run scored, Landon Snyder doubled with two driven in and a run scored, Michael Bartoe doubled with one RBI and a run scored and Taggart Carfangia doubled with an RBI. Jake Petak took the loss, allowing five unearned runs on three hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings of work. Patrick Mrofchak recorded Mathews’ lone hit. The Eagles will face Kidron Central Catholic on Friday with a district crown on the line. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Springfield High School.
