DIVISION II

Northeast 1

Austintown Fitch 5, Broadview Heights 4 — In a district semifinal, after Broadview Heights cut it to a one-run game in the fifth, the Falcons pitched two scoreless innings to move on. It was the bottom of the lineup that got things going for the Falcons. Brady Stovall and Jaylin Danko both collected two hits from the No. 8 and No. 9 spots, respectively. Danko scored twice and Stovall crossed once to set up the top of the order. Carter Owens also had a two-hit day with a run scored as the leadoff hitter, and Frank Senedak hit a sacrifice fly for the Falcons’ only RBI. Owens also threw a complete game in the win. He gave up four runs – one earned – on four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. The Falcons will face Stow-Munroe Falls in Friday’s district title. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Bob Cene Park in Struthers.

Stow-Munroe Falls 4, Boardman 1 — In their district semifinal, the Spartan bats never could break the game open. Despite only recording four hits, Boardman had multiple runners on base in four of the seven innings, but it only resulted in one run via an RBI fielder’s choice off the bat of Landon Whippo. Collin Resetar took the loss after allowing four runs – three earned – on six hits and four walks in 3 1/3 innings pitched in the start.

Northeast 2

Warren G. Harding 7, Avon Lake 5 — In a district semifinal, the Raiders broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth with a five-run frame, which was enough to claim the victory. Gummy Hart had a day at the plate and on the mound. Hart doubled with two RBIs and a run scored. He also picked up the complete-game win after allowing five runs – three earned – on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Khalef Freeman also did his job from the Harding leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jacob Borsic and Cory Kuhn both had two-hit games with a run scored, with Borsic also recording an RBI. Jayden Colbert scored once for the Raiders and Kwame Adams drove in a run. Harding will face Lakewood on Thursday at 5 p.m. for the district crown at Mentor High School.

DIVISION III

Northeast 1

Twinsburg 6, Howland 3 — In Twinsburg, the Twinsburg bats got going early after Brayden Kovarik’s RBI groundout in the top of the first inning got the Tigers on the board. Twinsburg responded with three runs in the bottom of the opening frame and added one run each in the second and third. Owen Shinada earned the win, giving up three hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings. Sulley O’Donnell took the loss by surrendering five runs on five hits and two walks, punching out a pair in 2 1/3 innings of work. Elliot Gebhardt came on in relief and gave up one run on three hits and a free pass in 3 2/3 innings of work. Luca Fronzaglio went 2-for-4 for Howland, and Gebhardt, Aidan Anders and Kovarik each drove in one run.

DIVISION IV

Northeast 2

Canfield 11, Marlington 2 — Canfield took care of business early in its district semifinal. The Cardinals went up 8-0 by the middle of the fourth inning and were never threatened. Anthony Groner didn’t need much offense, registering a complete game for Canfield. Groner allowed two runs on seven hits and a pair of walks, striking out eight. At the dish, he also recorded a hit and scored twice. Ryan Weibling was a force for Canfield in the box, going 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Logan Patellis added a double and a run scored with a game-high four RBIs, and Dylan Mancini finished 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Joey Gabriel had two hits with two runs scored and one driven in, Zain Jadallah had a hit and an RBI, Jake Dovich finished with a hit, an RBI and a run scored and David Murphy had an RBI and a run scored. Canfield will travel to the Pipe Yard in Lorain for its district championship. The Cardinals will face Field on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Northeast 3

Girard 7 Perry 6 — In a district semifinal, the Indians used a six-run top of the sixth inning to punch their ticket to the district championship. Zach Ward led the Indians’ charge with a home run and a double with an RBI and a run scored. Will Hynes singled and doubled with an RBI and a run scored, Dominic Phillips doubled with two hits, an RBI and a run scored, Kaiden Clare singled and doubled and scored once, Jaden Royal added a hit with an RBI and scored once and Evan Tuttle drove in a run. Camron Herrick pitched a complete game for Girard. He allowed six runs – five earned – on eight hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. Girard will face Ursuline in the district final on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Skeeles Field in Akron.
