High school scoreboard – April 24, 2025

BASEBALL

Maplewood 14, Lordstown 1 — The Rockets pummeled the Red Devils thanks to a strong offensive showing and a dominant outing on the mound. Kale Calvert tossed five innings while striking out 11 and walking three to earn the win. The Maplewood offense had nine batters tally a hit but the charge came from Kenyon Clover with a pair of hits. Burb was given the loss for Lordstown, throwing two innings while allowing a free pass and fanning none.

Champion 11, Crestview 1 (6 inn.) — The Golden Flashes found themselves back in the win column with a commanding win over the Rebels. The Champion offense drilled 10 hits and was led by Konnor Reed with a pair of singles, Bradey Quinby added a pair of doubles, a single and three RBIs while Boggs doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Quinby also picked up the win for Champion, going the distance while striking out nine, walking two and allowing three hits. Braden Devine was given the loss, tossing five innings while striking out two, walking three and surrendering eight hits.

Poland 12, Princeton 2 (5 inn.) — The Bulldogs cruised to the win over the Tigers, thanks to a handful of runs in the opening innings at the dish. The hits for Poland were scattered across the board, but Stephen Kopkash doubled, Carmine Tukalo tripled and Kelly Memo, Tyson Tarajack, Joe Zuccaro and Dylan Kelty each drove in two runs. Zuccaro and Kopkash threw a combined no-hitter, but Zuccaro earned the win on the bump, throwing 4 2/3 innings while striking out 10 and walking six. For Princeton, Wright was given the loss in 4 1/3 innings, striking out two, walking seven and allowing seven hits.

Ursuline 9, Struthers 8 — The Wildcats took a two run lead after plating six runs in the top of the sixth inning, but surrendered the lead as the Irish knotted things up a half-inning later. Ursuline scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh to earn the walk-off win. Earning the win in relief was Jake Bednar who threw 1 1/3 innings while striking out two, walking one and allowing three hits. At the plate, Ursuline was led by Anthony Triveri, Luke Balog and Luke Kollar each tallied a pair of singles, AJ Snyder lent a double, two singles and two RBIs, Marc DelliQuadri tripled and drove in two runs. Noah Carnahan was given the loss in relief, throwing 2/3 innings while striking out one, walking three and surrendering no hits. Offensively for Struthers, Anthony Pastella drilled a trio of singles and drove in two runs, Drew Chizmar doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Eddie Bradley doubled and singled.

Cardinal Mooney 10, Howland 7 — The Tigers tried to mount a comeback, but the Cardinals’ defense stood tall to complement the outpouring of offensive scoring to pick up the win. The Mooney offense was charged by Ryan Reese with a pair of singles and RBIs, Andrew Bushey doubled, Kaden Reese doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, Ford Stacy doubled and had two RBIs and Will Petty doubled and singled. Ben Oddis was credited with the win, throwing six innings in which he struck out six, walked two and allowed seven hits. In the loss, Bode Biggin tallied three singles, Richie Ansel doubled and singled, Keaton Perry doubled and drove in two runs and Aidan Anders drove in two runs. Elliot Gebhardt was given the loss, throwing 4 1/3 innings while striking out two, walking four and allowing six hits.

Lakeview 4, LaBrae 3 — Despite trailing for most of the game, the Bulldogs plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the last inning to pick up the walk-off win over the Vikings. For Lakeview offensively, Carter Doran led the way with a double, single and two RBIs. Jason DeMonica was given the win in relief, tossing two innings while allowing a hit. For LaBrae, Austin Rowe singled twice, Lucas Glaser singled twice and drove in two runs while Eaton Armstrong doubled. Rowe was also given the loss, throwing all 6 1/3 innings while striking out four, walking one and allowing seven hits.

Niles 11, Chaney 5 — The Red Dragons exploded for 16 hits in the crushing win over the Cowboys. The Niles offense was led by AJ Yost who was a perfect 5-for-5 with a double and four singles, Anthony Mymo singled twice, Brixton Gilmour doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, Brady Court singled twice and Andrew Strader drove in two runs. Connor Duncan picked up the win for Niles, throwing six innings while walking five, striking out three and allowing seven hits. For Chaney at the dish, Langston doubled and singled twice and Davis singled twice. Johnson was given the loss, throwing six innings while allowing 13 hits, striking out six and walking one.

Bristol 11, Fairport Harding 0 (5 inn.) — The Panthers plated at least one run in each inning to throttle the Skippers. At the dish, Diesel Williams tallied a trio of singles, Christian Van Ness doubled and singled and Keifer Swager lent a triple. Laverene Miller was credited with the complete-game win, tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out 11 and walking two. For Fairport Harding, Elijah Harless doubled. Landyn Muzzin was given the loss in 4 2/3 innings, striking out four, walking five and allowing 10 hits.

Kennedy 14, Geneva 0 (5 inn.) — Kennedy posted 13 runs in the first inning and it was smooth sailing from there in the shutout win over Geneva. Leading the way on the mound was Carfangia, picking up the win in four innings, allowing a hit, walking four and striking out seven. At the dish for Kennedy, Carfangia helped his cause with a pair of singles and RBIs, Bartoe tripled, singled twice and drove in two runs, Rinck drove in a pair of runs, Mealy singled twice, Morrison doubled and drove in three runs and Ryan added a double. Hutchins was credited with the loss, fanning one, walking two and allowing five hits.

South Range 12, General Brown 1 (5 inn.) — The Raiders offense was on fire and was a perfect compliment to a strong pitching performance in the 11-run win. Leading the South Range offense was Cleevely with a triple, single and three RBIs, Nagy and Brian each singled twice, Tranovich doubled and singled, Papuga drove in a pair of runs and Smesko was the exclamation point with a home run, single and two RBIs. Lower picked up the complete-game win in five innings, fanning nine while walking three and allowing three hits. McManaman was given the loss in 2 2/3 innings, striking out none while allowing seven hits and walking two.

SOFTBALL

Poland 3, Crestview 2 — The Bulldogs bounced back after surrendering a slim lead to earn the close win over the Rebels. Lillian McDonald earned the win for Poland, throwing a complete game while striking out eight, walking four and allowing two hits. At the plate, Leanna Boccieri belted a solo home run and singled while Destanne Warren and Cassie Blanch each doubled. For Crestview, Emma Snyder was given the loss in six innings, striking out eight, walking none and allowing five hits.

Chalker 14, Warren JFK 1 (5 inn.) — The Wildcats exploded in the second through fourth innings, scoring all 14 of their runs in the dominant win over the Eagles. Riley Ashcraft was given the win for Chalker in the circle, throwing two innings while striking out three, walking four and allowing no hits. Offensively, the Wildcats were led by Morgan Strock with a pair of singles, Abby Grimm doubled and singled, Ashcraft helped her cause with a double and three RBIs, Tatum Hudak belted a home run and drove in four runs, Gabby Hromada and Alaynah Cox each drove in two runs and Paisley Garland doubled. For Kennedy, Lyla Day was given the loss in two innings, striking out three, walking seven and allowing three hits.

Columbiana 11, Jackson-Milton 1 (5 inn.) — A strong start for the Clippers was complimented by a six-run bottom of the fifth to lead to the win over the Blue Jays. Leading the offensive attack for Columbiana was Maryn Hepler with a home run, single and two RBIs while Ella Dota singled twice and drove in three runs, Addison Brode singled twice and had two RBIs and Ava Bell and Landry Smith both singled twice. Brode also picked up the win in five innings, striking out six while walking two and allowing four hits. Katie Byers was given the loss, throwing 4 2/3 innings, striking out one, walking four and allowing 13 hits.

Brookfield 7, Liberty 6 — In a game of back and forth, the Warriors posted three runs in the top of the final frame to earn the close win over the Leopards. Offensively, Brookfield was charged by Mya Jumper and Keilani Malufau with a pair of singles, Grace Teal singled twice and drove in two runs, Madison Obermiyer tripled and singled while Madisyn Fisher drove in two runs. Obermiyer was given the complete-game win, striking out five, walking two and allowing five hits. In the loss, Horn doubled and drove in two runs while Spisak and Strohmeyer each lent doubles. Strohmeyer was also given the loss in the circle, throwing five innings while striking out eight, walking none and surrendering six hits.

Badger 14, Windham 1 (5 inn.) — The Braves set the tone early with five runs to open the game to pick up the dominant win over the Bombers. At the plate for Badger, Madison Lindus tripled and singled three times, Samantha Bradbury doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs, Riley Thomas singled twice while Skylar Demarco, Sarah Miller and Autumn Yesko each drove in two runs. Bradbury was also given the win in the circle, tossing a complete game while striking out 12, walking four and allowing a hit. Alexandria Hudak doubled in the loss for Windham. Lillian Pesa-Garrett was given the loss in two innings, striking out two, walking two and allowing 11 hits.

Garfield 8, Mineral Ridge 7 (9 inn.) — The Rams posted six runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a one-run lead but the G-Men tied it up in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the frame and ultimately claimed the contest with another run in the bottom of the ninth to earn the walk-off win. In the loss, Sullivan Sandy slapped three hits while Megan Haynie added two others and Maggie Collins drove in two runs. Savannah Turek was given the loss in relief, throwing 5 2/3 innings while giving up six hits and striking out two. Garfield statistics were not submitted.

LaBrae 11, Hubbard 2 — The Vikings picked up their tenth consecutive win in the dominant win over the Eagles. Leading the offensive attack for LaBrae was Riley Rowe with a home run, double and single, Leah DeArmitt tripled, doubled, singled and drove in four runs, Makenzie Lichty and Shelby Bragg each doubled and Vada Allen lent a triple. DeArmitt was also given the win in the circle, tossing a complete game while striking out 10, walking four and allowing five hits. For Hubbard, Haleigh Taylor doubled while Layla Songer and Lauren Komorek each tripled. Kaylee Schultz was given the loss in six innings, allowing nine hits, walking one and striking out eight.

Girard 12, Warren G. Harding 2 (5 inn.) — The Girard bats were on fire, drilling 16 hits and scoring in every inning to topple the Raiders. Leading the offensive onslaught was Quinn Wilster and Chloe Plant each had a pair of singles, Gianna Saxon had a quartet of singles, Brooklyn Broll drilled three singles, Kyra Bell doubled, singled and drove in three runs and Caylee Wilkes tripled. Broll was given the win in the circle, striking out seven, walking none and allowing three hits. Karly Trisler was given the loss for Harding, throwing 4 2/3 innings while striking out two, walking one and allowing 16 hits.

Lakeview 7, Champion 3 — The Bulldogs kept the Golden Flashes bats at bay Thursday and claimed the contest. Isabella Isenberg picked up the complete-game win, striking out six, walking three and allowing six hits. At the plate for Lakeview, Kennedy Bartlett doubled and singled twice, Mackenzie Stowe tallied a pair of singles and RBIs, Isenberg helped her cause with two hits and three RBIs and Rylee Barnott singled twice. Gabby Gradishar was given the loss, tossing six innings in which she struck out eight, walked one and surrendered 11 hits. Gradishar also was a bright spot offensively with a pair of doubles.

Canfield 13, Bamberg-Ehrhardt (SC) 0 (5 inn.) — The Cardinals shutout Bamberg-Ehrhardt thanks to a dominant outing by Cam Hrina who picked up the win in the circle. The Canfield offense was paced by Sydney Lutz with a pair of singles and four RBIs, Jenna Triveri and Caylee Ortiz each singled and doubled, Sofia Castronova singled twice and Marina Koenig tripled and drove in two runs.

In the loss, Wesley Fee tallied 12 kills and eight digs, Dylan Nguyen had nine assists and three aces, Alex Slater recorded five blocks, Freddie Rivera had eight digs while Nick Caesar and Carter Jones each had five points.
