SOFTBALL

Hubbard 11, Niles 0 (5 inn.) — Haleigh Taylor tossed a no-hitter in the Eagles’ season opener against the Red Dragons, fanning 10 and allowing one walk. Taylor also helped her cause at the plate with a double and a home run, while Lauren Komorek hit a three-run inside-the-park home run and Cara Greene slapped three hits as well. Jones took the loss for Niles striking out five and walking six.

Fitch 11, Mentor 1 (5 inn.) — Tori Greathouse tossed a complete game to earn the win in the Falcon’s 10-run thrashing of the Cardinals. For Fitch, Kaliana Ray slapped four hits including two doubles and drove in three runs, Alyssa Rodgers singled four times, tallied two RBI’s and stole three bags, Morgan Roby tallied a pair of hits and RBI’s and Abby Toth homered and drove in three runs. For Mentor, Addison Belviso was tabbed with the loss on the rubber. Offensively, Maddie Beam-jones, Maddie Menough, Sophia Smalley and Belviso all doubled.

Cardinal 14, Bristol 1 — Cardinal toppled the Panthers Tuesday night. In the loss, Ellie Anderson doubled twice and Skylar Gibson tallied two hits and drove in Bristol’s lone run. Cardinal statistics were not submitted.

Canfield 9, Field 6 — A four-run fifth inning springboarded the Cardinals to the win over Falcons Tuesday night. Cam Hrina came on in relief to throw 2 1/3 innings of no-hit ball to earn the win. Offensively, Caylee Ortiz tallied two hits and three RBI’s, Sophia Castronova doubled twice, Marina Koenig singled and scored twice, Alexis Johnson doubled and Sami Economous drove in two runs.

Champion 4, Southeast 1 — The Golden Flashes plated two runs in the opening frame and put the game on ice with two more runs in the fifth to top the Pirates. Gabby Gradishar fanned 14 and allowed one free pass to earn the win. For Champion offensively, Adalyn McIntosh slapped three hits including a double and Taylor Rouan drove in two runs and singled twice. For Southeast, Lily Hayes struck out five in the loss. Neena Truex doubled paced the Southeast offense with a double.

LaBrae 10, Badger 7 — Leah DeArmitt went the distance for the Vikings to claim the win, fanning 13 Braves and allowing only three walks. Riley Rowe, Shelby Bragg and DeArmitt each tallied three hits and drove in two runs, Vada Allen and Makenzie Lichty slapped two hits, while Maddie Johnson doubled in the win for LaBrae. Samantha Bradbury was handed the loss, striking out seven and allowing one walk. Bradbury, Isabella Bailey and Kiyah Scharfenberg each tallied two hits, with Bradbury doubling, smacking a triple and driving in two runs. Savannah Steh tripled as well for Badger.

BOYS LACROSSE

Boardman 10, Fairview (Pa.) 5 — After an Ashton Hoover goal knotted the game at one, the Spartans took over and claimed the win. Hoover tallied a hat trick in the second quarter, Kevin Montgomery also netted three goals while Emerson Hare, Luke DeJoseph, Mike Demetrios and AJ Murphy each lent a goal as well for Boardman. Goalie Hunter Richard tallied seven saves defensively for the Spartans. Fairview statistics were not submitted.
