OATCCC to induct Krumpak into Hall of Fame
One area coach will be honored by her peers.
Diane Krumpak, McDonald and South Range’s track and cross country coach, will be inducted into the Ohio Association of Track and & Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame.
The induction banquet will be held on Jan. 24 at the Hilton at Easton in Columbus.
Krumpak spent 17 seasons as the head girls track coach (1985-2001) and four more seasons as the Blue Devils’ girls cross country coach (2000-03). She later became the junior high boys and girls cross country coach with the South Range School District, coaching in Beaver Township from 2006-11. She was also a track assistant from 2008-11 and 2020. She also served seven seasons each as the girls track coach (2012-18) and the boys and girls cross country coach (2012-17 and 2019).
During her four decades coaching, her teams won 18 Inter-County League championships (14 track and four cross country), 10 Trumbull County championships (seven track and three cross country), six Mahoning County track and field championships, 16 district titles (13 track and three cross country) and seven regional crowns.
Her crews also took third at the Division III state track meet on three separate occasions with the Blue Devils, made it to the state cross country meet four times — 2000-02 with McDonald and 2019 with the Raiders. She coached four individual cross country state qualifiers and 45 individual track and field qualifiers, which included four state champions and six runner-ups. There were 27 relay teams that made it to state, and three that took gold. Additionally, she coached 39 All-Ohio athletes.
She was honored with the OATCCC Fred Dafler Ohio Career Coach of the Year award in 1998, she received the 2014 Sportsmanship Award from the Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association and the 2024 Contributor Award from the Ohio Track & Field and Cross Country Officials Association.
Krumpak also spent time on the OHSAA Track & Field Advisory Committee and Cross Country Committee and was on the games committee for track regionals and state. She also served as the OATCCC District 1 representative (2002-16), vice president (2016-18) and president (2018-20).
