BOYS BASKETBALL
Cardinal Mooney 72, Struthers 37 — The Cardinals dominated the Wildcats with a 72-37 victory on Saturday. Nico Genova paced Mooney with 21 points to go along with 13 points from Dom Letlow.
Warren G. Harding 50, Canton McKinley 48 — The Raiders fended off a stiff test from the Bulldogs 50-48 on Saturday in Warren. Harding was led by 23 points from Chaz Coleman, and got six points apiece from Jeremy Sampson and Gummy Hart.
Lakeview 58, McDonald 56 — The Bulldogs held on to take down the Blue Devils 58-56 on Saturday. The Bulldogs were led by 18 points from Isaiah Lantz and 14 points from Trace Goyzueta. Leo Parise also added 11 points for Lakeview. Drew Zajack paced the Blue Devils with 20 points, while Joey Cappuzello scored 11 points for McDonald.
Valley Christian 49, Lowellville 29 — The Eagles cruised to a 49-29 victory over the Rockets on Saturday. Jaylen Robinson led Valley Christian with 17 points, while Deion Miller had 12 and Patrick Riley had 10. Josh Pazel led Lowellville with nine points in the loss. Valley Christian head coach Dolph Carroll achieved a milestone with his 200th career victory.
Howland 58, Mercyhurst Prep, Pa. 54 — The Tigers rode a fast start to a 58-54 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday. Darren Douglas led Howland with 18 points, while Jackson Mickel scored 11. Tanner Ashton scored 14 points for the Lakers.
Chalker 69, Sebring 39 — The Wildcats blew past the Trojans 69-39 on Saturday. Zach Pack hit six three-pointers for Sebring en route to scoring 28 points. Tanner Kelson also scored 12 points for the Wildcats. Tre Stevens and Kaleb Rowles led Sebring with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Champion 61, Lordstown 51 — The Golden Flashes picked up their first win of the season with a 61-51 victory over the Red Devils. Braylon Braham scored 16 points to lead Champion, while Damien Wickham chipped in 15 points. Ganon Force paced Lordstown with a monstrous 30-point effort.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Crestview 60, Boardman 43 — After a tight game to start, the Rebels used a big third quarter to pull away from the Spartans 60-43 on Saturday. Sarah Bero led the Boardman with 12 points, while Tori Strines had 10.
McDonald 65, Badger 53 — The Blue Devils defeated the Braves 65-53 on Saturday. Gracie Callow and Juliana Krumpack provided a high-scoring one-two punch for McDonald, scoring 28 and 21 points, respectively, to lead the Blue Devils. Badger had a similar scoring tandem led by Avery Rice and Sophie Stanhope. Rice scored 21 points for the Braves, while Stanhope finished with 15 points.
Marlington 44, Salem 35 — The Dukes got past the Quakers 44-35 on Saturday. Zoe Mort led Marlington with 14 points. Reese Davidson-Chuck spurred Salem with 17 points.
Mogadore 57, Lowellville 37 — The Rockets faltered to the Wildcats by a score of 57-37 on Saturday. Sydney Procick and Gianna Palumbo each scored 13 points for Lowellville. Amelia Morris paced Mogadore with 23 points.
Warren JFK 71, United 20 — The Eagles dominated United 71-20 on Saturday. Didi Ryan led JFK with 24 points, while Gianna Pompelia scored 14. Mueke Smith scored 8 points to lead United.
Western Reserve 51, Girard 31 — The Blue Devils cruised to a 51-31 win over the Indians on Saturday. Gianna Leone hit three threes en route to 19 points for Western Reserve, while Kylee Ramsey added 15 points. Caylee Wilkes led Girard with 11 points in the loss.
Chaney 64, Niles 53 — The Cowgirls stayed unbeaten on the season by holding off the Red Dragons 64-53 on Saturday. Janiah Biland led Chaney with 21 points, while Alyssa Brown had 17 and Simone Lewis scored 15 points. Kherington Stanford paced Niles with 27 points, while Ava Ferri and Hannah Grimm each finished with 11 points.
St. Thomas Aquinas 37, Windham 23 — The Bombers suffered a 37-27 defeat to the Knights on Saturday. Sophie Ward led Aquinas with 14 points, while Makenna Jones and Kierrah Sanders paced Windham with 7 points apiece.
