BOYS BASKETBALL

McDonald 56, Western Reserve 47 — McDonald jumped out to an early lead in the first half and was able to fend off the Western Reserve 20-point third quarter to earn the win. Brady Klockner led McDonald’s scoring with 14 points, while Drew Zajack and Brenden Emerick added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Dom Ricciardi led all scorers with 18 points in the loss for Western Reserve and Connor Cochran tallied 16 to level the team’s leading scorers.

Waterloo 48, Mineral Ridge 44 — The Vikings kicked off the game strong and kept it up to earn the win over the Rams. In the loss, Chase Moore’s 20 points led Mineral Ridge. Waterloo statistics were not submitted.

Fairport Harding 71, Bristol 64 — The Skippers’ 44 points in the second half springboarded Fairport Harding to the win over the Panthers. Charlie Beardslee’s 19 points led the Skippers, while Jan Castellano recorded 13 points and the duo of Ben Allen and Brady Lawson each tallied 10 points. In the loss, Kaiden Kohler tallied 21 points for Bristol to lead all scorers while Jack Berry tallied 15 and Croc Thorp added 11.

Newton Falls 66, Crestview 48 — The Rebels dropped their third straight contest with Thursday night’s loss to the Tigers. In the dominant win, Newton Falls was led by Landon McGregor’s game-high 17 points. Phil Davis lent 13 for Newton Falls as well. In the loss, Jameson English led Crestview with 16 points while Tyler Savage lent 13.

LaBrae 58, Brookfield 52 — A close game between LaBrae and Brookfield came down to the second half where the Vikings were able to fend off the Warriors. Twenty points from Derek Wilson led the LaBrae offense, while Dan McLaughlin was a free-throw away from tying the Viking’s scoring leader. Owen Boone also added 13 for LaBrae. In the loss, Cody Davidson’s 18 points was enough to lead Brookfield and Blake Hammond added 17.

Southeast 75, Champion 31 — The Southeast offense was on fire Thursday night as the Pirates crushed the Golden Flashes. Leading all scorers with 24 points for Southeast was Cohen Richardson and Nathanael Rivera tallied 10 to level the Pirates’ leading scorers. In the loss, Damen Wickham and Kalylle Gray each tallied seven points to lead Champion.

Campbell 84, Lowellville 62 — The Red Devils started strong and kept their foot on the gas to dismantle the Rockets. Josue Rodriguez posted 31 points for Campbell to lead all scorers, while Jared Colon added 18 and R’Manii Robinson tallied 10 to round out the team’s leading scorers. In the loss, Drew Modelski recorded 19 points to lead Lowellville and Josh Pazel scored 13.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NOTE: Thursday’s Niles at Poland girls basketball games were postponed because of a Niles medical situation. The schools are planning on a boys/girls doubleheader at Niles today.

Struthers 52, Hubbard 46 (OT) — In a game that needed extra time, the Wildcats posted 11 in overtime to secure the win over the Eagles. Gianna Martin boasted 21 points on the evening for Struthers to lead all scorers. In the loss, Layla Songer led Hubbard with 12 points while Jillian Palumbi and Claire Murphy recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Grand Valley 65, Chalker 31 — The Mustangs started off hot with 14 points out the gate in the first quarter and didn’t let up, dominating the Wildcats by 34. Jocelyn Cozad and Cloe Turk split leading scorer responsibilities with 15 points each. Right behind was Bre Rowland with 13 to level the Grand Valley leading scorers. In the loss, Abby Grimm led all scorers with 16 points for Chalker.

East Palestine 32, Leetonia 23 — In the low scoring affair, the Bulldogs claimed the win over the Bears. Jacklyn Ogle led all scorers with 12 points for East Palestine. For Leetonia, Taylor Chapman led with eight points.

Jackson-Milton 48, Heartland Christian — No statistics for either team were submitted.

Lisbon 51, Valley Christian 28 — No statistics for either team were submitted.

Lakeview 45, South Range 35 — No statistics for either team were submitted.
