Youngstown State's men's basketball team was outpaced Friday afternoon, falling to Presbyterian College, 67-42.
Ty Harper led the Penguins with 12 points, and EJ Farmer added 10.
The Blue Hose were led by a 20-point effort from Jonah Pierce.
The Penguins (2-3) couldn't get into a flow offensively in the first half. YSU trailed 28-16 and only shot 9-for-23 (39.1%) from the floor in the opening half.
YSU's shooting improved slightly after coming out of the break. The Penguins converted a 10-of-30 attempts from the field in the second half.
While YSU struggled from the field, it really couldn't get its 3-point shots to fall.
The YSU went into the locker room with a 1-for-12 (8.33) effort behind the 3-point line. Similar to the overall shooting effort, the Penguins' 3-point effort improved in the second half, going 5-for-15.
In a challenging non-conference stretch, the Penguins have dropped three of their last four. The other two losses came to Ohio State and Syracuse.
YSU closes out the Axe 'Em Classic today against host school Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m.
