The Austintown 12u Little League softball team won its first game at the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, NC on Sunday, defeating Jose Gonzales Torres Little League (Latin America Region) 6-0.

After scoring its first run in the bottom of the first inning, Austintown blew the game open with four runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Austintown tallied seven total hits with Bella Mattern leading the way with two.

Annabel Mikesell, Emily Belan, Ava Fisher, Marissa Polder, Lillian Sheffield and Peyton Severn each drove in a run for Austintown. Ace Mila Hamley finished with 14 strikeouts, while giving up just one hit.

Next up, Austintown will face Rowan Little League (Southeast Region) on today at 7 p.m. The game is televised on ESPN+.
