YOUNGSTOWN — The Horizon League released its 2023-24 league slate Tuesday afternoon.

The YSU men will begin league play at home Nov. 29 against rival Cleveland State before heading to Robert Morris on Dec. 2.

After a near month-long break in play, the Penguins resume their Horizon League journey on New Year’s Eve against Oakland.

On Jan. 4, Youngstown State visits Northern Kentucky, who defeated the Penguins in the semifinals of the league tournament last season. That’s followed by three consecutive home games: Jan. 7 against IUPUI, Jan. 10 against Purdue Fort Wayne then Jan. 12 against Wright State.

The Penguins head to Oakland on Jan. 17 and Detroit Mercy on Jan. 20, and then visit IUPUI on Jan. 25.

January concludes with a home game against NKU on Jan. 28.

YSU begins February on the road as it visits Wright State’s Nutter Center on Feb. 1 and then Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 4.

Milwaukee and Green Bay visit the Beeghly Center on Feb. 8 and Feb. 10, respectively, and then Robert Morris makes its return trip on Feb. 14.

YSU heads to the Wolstein Center to face Cleveland State on Feb. 17, which begins a three-game road trip that also includes a Feb. 23 visit to Milwaukee and a Feb. 25 visit to Green Bay. The regular season league slate concludes with a Feb. 28 game against Detroit Mercy at home.

On the women’s side, YSU begins with a home contest against Detroit Mercy on Nov. 30 and then visits Robert Morris on Dec. 3.

Like the men’s schedule, the women then have a hiatus from league games until resuming with a Dec. 29 home game against Wright State. IUPUI will visit Beeghly on Dec. 31, setting up a double-header with the men’s game against Oakland, and then YSU begins the New Year against Oakland on Jan. 3 at home.

That’s followed by three road games: Jan. 6 at Cleveland State, Jan. 11 at Green Bay and Jan. 13 at Milwaukee.

The Penguins then return home for three games: Jan. 18 against Purdue Fort Wayne, Jan. 24 against NKU and Jan. 27 against RMU. January concludes with a Jan. 31 road trip to IUPUI.

YSU begins February with a Feb. 3 matchup with Milwaukee at home. That precedes a trio of road games: Feb. 8 at Oakland, Feb. 10 at Detroit Mercy and Feb. 14 at Wright State.

The final four games alternate between home and away: Feb. 17 vs. Green Bay, Feb. 24 at NKU, Feb. 27 against CSU and then March 2 at Purdue Fort Wayne.
