Flashes take 13-0 lead before delay

Champion smacks 3 HRs in 1st inning

NEWTON FALLS — The Champion Golden Flashes and the Newton Falls Tigers softball teams made it through three innings before having their game postponed due to inclement weather on Wednesday. Champion led 13-0 when the umpires stopped the game.

The Flashes got out to a sizzling hot start. Champion’s first three batters, Gabrielle Gradishar, Addison Warzala and Isabella Meyer all hit home runs as the Flashes quickly found themselves leading 3-0.

Gradishar, Meyer, Abigail Meadors, Morgan Davis, and Hailey Householder all batted in runs in what was a monster 13-0 first inning for the Flashes.

Gradishar was the starting pitcher for Champion. She registered six strikeouts and two walks while keeping Newton Falls hitless through the first two innings.

The remainder of the game will be resumed tomorrow at 4:30. The second game will immediately follow.
