The Youngstown State women's basketball team suffered its third straight loss Tuesday, falling to IUPUI 87-80 on the road.
The Penguins (18-10, 12-7 Horizon League) suffered a similar slump at the beginning of the season when they lost three straight road games against Penn State, Akron and Western Michigan.
Against IUPUI, Dena Jarrells scored a new career high with 25 points while Lilly Ritz tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds and tallied the 2,000th point of her career.
The Penguins jumped up to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but the Jaguars (16-12, 12-7 Horizon League) bounced back in the second, outscoring YSU by 15 points. The Jaguars were led by Jazmyn Turner who tallied 21 points. Destiny Perkins and Natalie Andersen both tallied 18 points in the win while Logan Lewis added 13 and Ali Berg scored 10. Berg also grabbed seven rebounds and Turner had six.
The Penguins went 28-for-63 on the night and went cold in the second half, shooting just 13-for-38 from the field. Jarrells went 4-for-7 from deep and 7-for-9 from the field while Paige Shy cashed in on three from beyond the arc for nine points.
YSU travels to Robert Morris for a 3 p.m. tip in the final game of the regular season Saturday.
