South Range head football coach Dan Yeagley retiring after 28 years
After 28 years at the helm of the South Range football program, head coach Dan Yeagley is going out on top.
A few months after capturing the program’s first state title, Yeagley informed his players Friday that he was retiring. In 28 seasons, Yeagley accumulated a record of 248-75 but his final season at the helm may have been his best. En route to their dominant state championship victory over Ironton at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, South Range put together a perfect season and utterly dominated its competition all year long.
They dished out four shutouts, and Ironton’s 27 points were the highest amount that they allowed all season long. They also scored 42.9 points per game this season.
Over the course of his coaching career, Yeagley has led the Raiders to several notable accomplishments. Three regional championships, three undefeated regular seasons, and 11 double-digit win seasons.
Alongside former Lakeview coach Paul Kopko, Yeagley was also inducted into the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a part of the 2023 class.
