Girls High School Basketball Capsules 12/20/21

Springfield 61, Lowellville 36: The Tigers used a 10-point halftime lead and 16-7 run in the third quarter to put away the Rockets. Jacey Mullen scored 24 points for the winners, while Lowellville’s Savannah Procick and Samantha Moore each had 11 points.

Maplewood 62, Pymatuning Valley 46: Marissa Ventura scored 27 points and in the process broke the Maplewood all-time scoring record. Ventura’s 1,331 career points set the mark over Miranda Sloan’s previous record of 1,329. Ellie and Mae Struna each scored 11 for the Lakers.

Champion 58, Campbell 17: Ava Howell scored 21 points to lead the Golden Flashes in a rout. Cayla Marshall tallied 11 for the Red Devils.

Chalker 55, Ashtabula St. John 37: Belle Woods’ 16 points paced Chalker to a road win. Mia Russomanno added 12 points, while Liv Rhodes had 10 for the winners. Chalker trailed 22-17 at halftime, but outscored its host 20-4 in the third quarter.

Liberty 67, Garfield 63: Demi Watson’s 33 points powered the Leopards to a thrilling four-point win over Garfield. Aaliyah Foster added 15 points for Liberty, while Garfield’s Jenna Smith scored 26 points. Liberty outscored the G-Men 19-11 in the fourth.

Western Reserve 52, Mineral Ridge 32: Brooke Schantz scored a game-high 22 points as Reserve cruised by Mineral Ridge. The Rams were paced by Olivia Booth’s 16 points.

McDonald 51, Jackson-Milton 40: Alivia Morrison scored 18 points, Lea Gabrelcik added 13 and McDonald picked up a win over the Blue Jays. Jackson-Milton was paced by 15 points apiece from Kylie Wilson and Chelsea Williams.

Leetonia 57, Heartland Christian 44: McKendra Cole’s 18 points and 15 rebounds led the Bears to a win over Heartland Christian. Elle Gregorino added 12 points. Heartland’s Rachel Reynolds and Madi Matthews each scored 17 points in the loss.

Bristol 57, Mathews 29: Bristol senior Belle Zirzow’s 30 points led the Panthers past Mathews. Jaylyn Mullenax had eight. For Mathews, Mya Macgregor and Ava Clayton each finished with eight points.
