Scrappers fall to Spikes, lose 8th straight game
NILES — State College scored five runs in the game’s final three innings to top the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 8-6 at Eastwood Field.
The Scrappers led 3-2 entering the game’s seventh frame, but State College outscored Mahoning Valley 5-3 the rest of the way to earn the win.
Duncan Hewitt homered for Mahoning Valley, while Jason Hinchman went 2-for-4. John Czeslawski allowed five earned runs on five hits and four walks across five innings. He struck out four.
Lukas Cook and Trent Lewis each had a pair of RBIs for State College, which used six pitchers in the win.
