It's funny how our current regime is busy buying up shares of big companies. That's SOCIALISM! LOL! How ironic and revealing to anyone with half a brain. And it's funny how our current leader falsely curses Democrats as Communists when he, himself, embraces pure Communist dictators Putin and Kim Jong Un. Ha ha, again, very funny. Wake up, America! A recent Vindy article asks that we restore the death penalty. Of the 8,500 death sentences since 1972 over 600 have been overturned due to official misconduct, withholding evidence and DNA. About 50% of all death sentences are eventually reversed. Ohio has had the sixth-worst reversal rate in the nation at 12. The litigation and imprisonment with a death sentence would be better used to fix our court systems and prevent crimes by helping the mentally ill. Roughly 40% of prisoners have a mental issue.

I don't like the idea of beer at a family fair. It's one thing when it's in the evening for the concert-goers but for everyone throughout the fair this isn't a good idea. I know the area is roped off but that beer doesn't leave your system once you go out into the fair crowd. There has been trouble before, and this is just asking for more.

At first I liked the idea of a fireworks show on closing night, until my daughter brought up an excellent point. Has anyone thought about the animals? Maybe I'm wrong and they'll be gone by then but I'm pretty sure they won't. This is going to scare them tremendously! I'll be at the fair like every other year but I wish it could remain the fair I attended in previous years.

It is refreshing to see the new Flock cameras helping Warren police solve crimes, but let's remember how we got them. It was Democrat Sherrod Brown who secured the $170,000 federal grant that made this technology possible. Despite political rhetoric, this is proof Democrats actively back the blue and deliver the actual funding our local police officers need! I feel so much safer seeing the long black poles with AI cameras affixed to them. Thanks, Warren police, and thanks former Sen. Brown.

Under Ohio Law Sec. 4503.21, obstructing your license plate is not legal. Scores of vehicles have these illegal covers over their plates. Why is there no enforcement?

Donald Trump's trade war with Canada is absurd. Canada provides the U.S. with important resources like electricity, crude oil and uranium. There is nothing to be gained
by alienating our closest ally.

Sept. 26 begins bow hunting of the remaining deer in your taxpayer-funded Mill Creek Park. As the director and board member have said, one deer is one deer too many, and we all like the deer but they all have to go. Remember these words and sentiment when they furnish incorrect numbers of deer in the park, false reports of sickness, disease and vegetation destruction. 14.9 deer per square mile in our 5-mile park. Hardly the 387 per square mile that they're going by.

What do we know about Vivek? We know that he can be vile, vicious and personal in his attack on his opponent in the race for governor. We know that he doesn't use his last name. Why is that? Is he ashamed of it? Most likely he believes that voters can't pronounce it. There are those who would like to try. It should be in every ad -- pronounced slowly, clearly and often. Otherwise it's like being asked to vote for Larry, Curly or Joe.

A great opening win for the Penguins. Not so great was the handicapped parking behind the East stands. You pay $40.00 for a parking pass No handicapped spaces are available even at 1 hour and 45 minutes before
game time. A beverage truck takes up one spot; police tent takes two; police cruiser another and a trash container another.
Twelve prime spaces are blocked by orange construction posts. This is the third year -- even having written similar letters to YSU President Johnson, trustee Peterson, police chief and parking.
