It was just announced that the White House is holding Medicaid benefits from both California and Minnesota. This impacts millions. How can anyone with a conscience do something so underhanded and nasty? The results may prove disastrous. Another White House poor decision.

Upon hearing of the death of Robert Mueller, Trump said, "I'm glad." In the July 16 Vindicator, Ian Haworth wrote (regarding the death of Lindsey Graham): "Any society that celebrates the death of its fellow citizens based upon political disagreement is doomed, not just because it negates the fundamental respect of the individual ... but because the political celebration of death will guarantee the continuation of political violence." Are those who celebrate the passing of Graham playing "Follow the Leader?"

What a joke! Bernie Moreno and Donald Trump want to sanction Canada over the wildfire smoke. What next, build a wall to stop the smoke and make Canada pay for it? And this is coming from an administration that has been quietly rolling back clean air and water standards for the benefit of their rich business friends. So I doubt that they're really concerned about American's health.

Why do people like the writer from Campbell always say that any suggestion to make voting safer will hurt the poor, minorities and women? This is another Democratic talking point. Not one woman I know had any trouble after getting married to register to vote. Why do these people look down on the poor and minorities like they're unable to do things others do? These groups should shun the Democrats because all they want to do is control them. Anyone who wants to vote can vote. Anyone who wants an ID can get one no matter what the Democrats say!

I find it interesting that the Schwebel's Baking Company workers approached and asked Sherrod Brown to hold a roundtable discussion to listen to their concerns regarding the impending shutdown. Why not ask one of our two Republican senators to meet? Or, did they, and were turned down? Would be curious to know how many of them were part of the "Red Wave" in 2024.

One of the biggest challenges for Americans is determining if a leader is lying. With Trump it's easy. Ask yourself, did Mexico pay for the wall? Where's the health care plan to replace Obamacare? Did Lordstown have to close? Who paid for his tariffs? Has Iran's military been obliterated? Is the Strait of Hormuz open? Are your health care costs lower? Was the Ukraine War ended on Day 1? Is inflation lower? Were people in Springfield eating cats and dogs? He's told thousands of these lies.

Has every Trump Cabinet member and GOP congressperson already been brainwashed or is Trump building Room 101 in the basement of his ballroom? Hard to say given the Blanche congressional hearing.

I hope Donald Trump delivers a surprise prime time speech every month. His most recent rant was a nothing burger with chaos sauce and parasitic lettuce that revealed what a rotted tossed salad of paranoia, racism, misogyny, ignorant economic policy, empathy and fact-free chest thumping his administration embraces. Remember it as you consider your vote. Remember, too, that every GOP member of Congress enables him and hopes to pour enough oil and vinegar to cover their complicity in the corruption.

Vivek Ramaswamy has given us reasons not to vote for Amy Acton but has not given us any reason to vote for him.

It was calculated that only 85-90% of the immigrants being chased are criminals. Take the guns away from ICE. They shouldn't need them. They're tough so they should be able to handle the arrests easily as they are chasing women and children.

Who comes to build a better life for themselves and their family builds a stronger country for me. What, then, are Trump and his murderous masked goons?

Watching the congressional hearing to rubber stamp the appointment of a permanent Attorney General, I noted that Todd Blanche appears to have the same scowl and grimace coach as Pete Hegseth and Trump. It befits a partner in Trump & Blanche Law.

Regarding your Orchid to the Poland Township Police Department, that other police forces should "take a clue" from them. Accolades to Poland, but Boardman received awards from the governor's office and the Ohio Crime Prevention Association back in the 1990s for its many community policing programs and problem-solving strategies. Many of our local agencies and individual officers have received awards the past three decades. Therefore, it would be safe to say that Poland wisely "took a clue" from them.
