Voters in the Valley, wake up about Ohio Sen. Al Cutrona
DEAR EDITOR:
How many area voters have ever seen or met state Sen. Al Cutrona? The response is probably to what most people say — who? I often totally forget that our district voted him into the state Senate. Now it is election time, and he, like many others, searches for bills to sponsor and attempt to get his name into the newspapers.
Did he NOT know until now that a trained police officer should be able to enter the schools as a resource officer? A no-brainer. But he again waits until elections are upon us to sponsor such a bill that would protect our kids.
It is not unusual for officers to be in the schools. His hometown of Canfield has had one for many years.
Didn’t he also try to get books removed from the library? Could the books be about the downfall of countries that had an authoritarian as leader? Or were they what kids see on TV? Maybe the programs should be censored?
Thank goodness federal judges ruled that removing books from library shelves based on objections from a person or group is unconstitutional. I know I was in charge of a local school district library for 37 years.
Wake up, America. Is life under a Republican regime better?
To those elected officials, stop being afraid and do what is best for your constituents.
