Trump suffers from a failure to execute

DEAR EDITOR:

Donald Trump has great bumper sticker ideas. Secure our borders, election integrity, lower taxes, transparency. The problem is he is incapable of properly executing any of them as policy.

It’s difficult to have a sovereign nation without secure borders. However, sending under-trained, incompetent, unidentifiable, armed thugs to cities governed by Democrats to arrest, and invade without legitimate reason or warrant using unnecessary roughness is not helpful and possibly illegal. If half of ICE funding were spent on enough immigration courts to handle immigrants seeking sanctuary, up to a policy declared maximum, Trump’s secret police would have no purpose nor would sanctuary cities be necessary for humane treatment of immigrants. Detention gulags? Hey, this is America.

Election integrity would not be a concern if Trump would refute his 2020 election lie, already disproved by 60 lost litigations, and stop the nonsense of Cyber Ninja (deservedly out of business) and rumor based rogue sheriff recounts. The Constitution gives states the right to specify their own election processes. Trump’s late night social media rants have no legitimate power to limit, change, or federalize them. All the noise he makes about voter ID is to add needless chaos. If he wants everyone to have voter ID, his ballroom (no one asked for) budget could provide them, for free and reasonably ahead of elections for those who don’t drive or have $400+ to buy a passport. His threat to send armed ICE agents to our polling places is a bully boy’s attempt to frighten voters away from the election he’s an odds-on favorite to lose.

His promise to lower taxes is not supported by his unpredictable tariffs that have recently been canceled by court ruling. His ongoing breaks for billionaires from his first term are to be increased. If the majority of your income is from wages, you may get another piddling one-time sop.

If you’re living on interest payments or stock dividends, the one big meadow muffin of a bill has your lower taxes covered with tax dollars from the rest of us. Things won’t become affordable, just the opposite, thanks to his mismanaged launch of war, without Congress or allies, who he now demands pay for his adventure as it becomes a regional conflagration. So, pony up.

Just for irony, watch the last Trump- produced ring-kissing by his Cabinet. Transparent Cabinet business is easy if there’s nothing to see. He misses no opportunity to humiliate the incompetents he calls his “great people.” They compete to flatter him, thus demonstrating their lackey fealty to the boss rather than suggesting any useful ideas for governing. Even as Trump falls asleep.
