DEAR EDITOR:
With all that is happening here domestically, I cannot help but ponder where the rest of the world is and why no one is saying a word.
Any time we've invaded (read: nation built) other countries that use their own military against their neighbors or their own populace, we get help from other nations. The minute the Oompa Loompa man-child in the White House decides to open fire on our own citizens, crickets from the rest of the world. No sanctions, no statements, no threats of military action. NATO? Deadly silent. The UN? Also quiet as a tomb. The Hague (which prosecutes war crimes) is also radio silent.
As far as I'm concerned, the actions of the National Guard / ICE / DHS rise to the level of domestic terrorism (at minimum) and, at most, all-out war crimes. Do we need to enforce immigration? Yes. Do we need to enforce immigration using our own military? Maybe, as long as there is true unrest (think Rodney King or George Floyd), not just a handful of bad actors protesting in front of federal buildings or detention (read: concentration camps) centers.
On Jan. 7, an ICE agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis. Where was her due process? Since when (outside of official acts of war) do these agents and / or military get the right to act as judge, jury and executioner? This is absolutely unacceptable, un-American and just flat-out wrong.
And yet, the rest of the world stands idly by while Dementia Don does what he wants to, consequence-free, like always. If this were a "sh*thole third world country" doing this, there would be talks of sanctions, prosecutions and authorized use of military force.
