DEAR EDITOR:
As I write this in the middle of a blizzard, our federal government has yet again murdered an American citizen in cold blood. Just like with the murder of Renee Good, the administration is lying about the murder of Alex Pretti.
They would have us believe that the federal agents were being threatened and acting in self-defense; the truth is completely opposite. Alex was pinned down and shot multiple times. He posed no threat.
This is to be expected, of course. Orwell wrote, "The Party told you to ignore the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command." Trump demands the ultimate, final purity test of rejecting reality completely. Adhere to his truth, or you are an outcast, scum, a "far-left wacko." The dissolution of truth is the final aim of fascism, and it is its most desperate time. We all know what we saw with our own eyes. Renee Good was no danger. Alex Pretti was no danger. They were murdered by faceless thugs acting with the impunity bestowed upon them by Trump.
I'm asking my conservative friends and Republican friends: look at this for what it is. Look at it straight on. This is the despotism the 2nd Amendment was written for. This is the tyranny you have spent your life fearing and preparing to overturn. You weren't expecting it to come from the right, but it is here at our doors. It came in through the Trojan horse of Trump. You bought his lies. It's time to give him up. Stop enabling his tyranny.
I have been calling my representatives every day. I implore you to do the same. Do not let them off the hook. Republicans in Congress have the ability to stop this now. Let them know you do not stand for tyranny. Abolish ICE. Impeach Trump.
