Congress must act to release Epstein files
DEAR EDITOR:
I’m very concerned that our Republican members of Congress are unwilling to stand up for victims of sexual abuse. I wonder how many of these idle Republican members would want the first sexual experience of their daughter, especially a 14-year-old daughter, to be at the hands of adult men and a woman. These perpetrators victimized, drugged and exploited these young girls.
Trump and his abetting followers aren’t above the law. We all need to demand that our elected officials stand up for the victims of sexual abuse. Let Congress know that sexual abuse of minors is a criminal act. The victims of such horrible crimes will gain some closure and healing when they are believed, protected and their sexual perpetrators are held accountable.
Those in Congress who refuse to sign for the release of the Epstein Files are making their own statement, a statement which condones these horrific acts against minors. It is a legal mandate to report sexual abuse of minors, no matter who the perpetrators may be. We all should be enraged that sexual trafficking of children is being ignored and worse yet, covered up.
Urge your Republican legislators to sign for the release of the Epstein Files. You can reach U.S. Rep. Michael Rulli at 202-225-5705, U.S. Sen. Jon Husted at 202-224-3353 and U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno at 202-224-2315.
