Vote ‘YES’ on Issue 2, a renewal for MCBDD
DEAR EDITOR:
As the mother of a 19-year-old son with multiple disabilities, I know how critical the right support system is — not just for the child, but for the entire family.
My son Ryan attends Leonard Kirtz School, where he receives not only an education, but dignity, independence and connection thanks to the caring staff.
The Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities provides services that change lives. More than 600 children have already benefited from early intervention programs that begin at birth, and support does not stop there. MCBDD extends care into adulthood, helping nearly 2,000 individuals in Mahoning County with transportation, employment, adult day programs, residential services and more.
Issue 2 is a 3-mill RENEWAL levy — which means NO NEW TAXES. It has been in place since 2001 and MCBDD has not requested a tax increase in 24 years.
A “YES” vote ensures that these essential services and supports remain available for the most vulnerable members of our community.
Please join me in voting “YES” on Issue 2. Let’s continue to give children and adults with special needs the respect, care and opportunities they deserve.
