Reelect Monica Deavers in Austintown

DEAR EDITOR:

In these challenging times, political leaders face public opinion, which impacts elections. This is especially true of incumbents. Austintown Township will be electing two expiring trustee positions who will be leading the community over the next four years. Trustees Monica Deavers and Robert Santos are incumbents seeking reelection.

Monica Deavers is a lifelong resident of Austintown and longtime owner of Charly’s Family Restaurant. She entered the political spectrum in 2021 and was elected trustee on a platform of encouraging economic growth; support for small businesses; and improvement of relations between township government and residents.

As a first-time political leader, Monica spent many hours learning laws and rules pertaining to county government. She met with both community leaders and township residents to realize the needs of a growing community. Her decisions and recommendations have been based on facts and research, not opinions.

Her success as a business owner for over 15 years contributes to her understanding of fiscal accountability; budget balancing while providing the best services possible. She has been highly involved in securing state and federal grants that provide needed equipment and improvements for our police department, Austintown Park, roads and infrastructure. A new Senior Center will open soon to provide more services for our senior population.

Monica has given countless hours supporting and participating in community events. She is a staunch supporter of Austintown schools and the police and fire departments.

There is no glitz or glamour, fame or fortune with Monica – simply a willingness to work together and get the job done. Austintown would do well to reelect Monica Deavers as trustee on Nov. 4.

A vote for Monica is a vote for positive leadership and community growth.
