DEAR EDITOR:

Now that enough MAGAites in red states are learning the cost of Trump’s Big Beautiful tax bill, they realize they have stepped in a Magnificent Meadow Muffin so malodorous as to shutter Congress with disgust. Ditto, the “clean” CR. Playing their double-down tactic for bad ideas e.g. 2016 and 2024, MAGA points fingers to deflect attention, threatens bogus lawsuits, ignores due process, cuts or eliminates health care and helps 47 build his masked, lawless ICE army with $74 billion of your tax dollars. ICE and Kristi Noem do the illegal and unnecessary to make armed troops seem acceptable in cities and at polls. Yep, in banana republics where they disappear or shoot voters as well as puppies.

I don’t think all fault is the MAGA mobs’ as all shutdowns have cash and politicians in common. MAGA-supported Trump toadies and the clown Cabinet certainly have a role. Of course, they’re still being paid while rank-and-file MAGA marchers with government jobs will soon be freezing in the dark.

Given the lack of empathy recently displayed by MAGA Mike Johnson for a child dying of want for what had been existing heart health care, I imagine he loves his constituents like he loves the nutria in Louisiana swamps. So, good luck as Trump’s Congress dismantles useful programs in order to feed their greed for lowered taxes on billionaires.

That may prove the common cause that will unite us all to dump fascism along with Trump in 2028. Meanwhile, resist, protest, vote.
