Trump is just testing the waters in DC

DEAR EDITOR:

As Bob Dylan said, “you don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.” As I write this, Trump is sending troops to a second American city without a legal basis — no rioting, no natural disaster, no terrorist attack.

He’s testing the waters, seeing if you’ll accept the intimidation of armed soldiers via martial law in your town too.

A Republican friend said today we’re as close to civil war as in the 1860s. I suspect Fox, News Nation, and OAN are feeding that to people every day. A fait accompli, as it were.

So, who would martial law benefit? Certainly not you or me. How about an adjudicated felon head of government with a minority level of approval (about 60-40 against).

These fake “crises” of immigrant hordes destroying our sacred “white” traditions or not so subtle racist diatribes about urban crime are all designed to soften the soft headed into accepting troops in the streets.

So a nation founded on independence from a tyrannical king and British troops in every town abandons that 250-year legacy because of a TV huckster real estate salesman. That’s not “great again.” That’s stupid. That’s surrender.
