Tell Speaker Johnson to honor Capitol police
DEAR EDITOR:
Did you know there is a bronze plaque that was made to honor the police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol and fought the mobs that attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021?
Despite House Speaker Mike Johnson saying he would display it for all visitors to see, it has STILL not been put up. Instead, it is in a storeroom. Contact Speaker Johnson at the U.S. Capitol and tell him to have the plaque put in a prominent location.
Contact him at: 521 Cannon House Office Building. Washington, DC 20515. Phone: 337-226-6385.
One U.S. Capitol police officer, Jeffrey Smith, committed suicide afer sustaining serious injuries during the riot. He was reportedly punched repeatedly and struck in the head by a metal pole thrown at him by rioters.
