Donald Trump offers few positives
DEAR EDITOR:
I can’t stop thinking about politics, and truly there is a lot to think about.
I can’t recall, and believe me I’ve tried, to think about how much, if any, positivity Donald Trump has generated, not just in the first month of his second term but even in his first.
I can think of very little in the way of positive and pleasing actions he has taken. And not only that, the same goes for our legislators, principally the Republicans, as they unreservedly back DT. Most of them probably know the direction he’s steering us in but even fewer, if any, are brave enough to speak out and let him and everyone else know the rocky and deserted shore we’re headed for.
DT said it himself that tariffs is his favorite word in the dictionary. All tariffs accomplish will be to push prices up, cause inflation and continue to make enemies out of those who were our friends. Even big business in this country is beginning to sour on him.
May I continue with my laundry list of other items of a negative nature? Well, I’ll be kind and only mention a few, OK?
He and Vance recently and shamelessly bullied an ally, an ally at war and in a pitiful situation. The EU is turning its back on us. He’s anti-green, basically.
Cozying up to Russia, et al.
A convicted felon and impeached twice. Appointed unqualified people to key positions in our government.
DOGE! no need to explore this further, et cetera.
Sure DT has some good ideas. I won’t deny that but he does not possess the intellect nor the political skills to bring about the changes this country and world so desperately need.
Essentially, DT can be summed up in a word — immature. He never grew up. He continues to behave like a child who, while also being parental, can’t behave as an adult — the adult is nowhere to be found. ‘Gaza Riviera?’ — come on!
Again, the same can be said for most of our legislators.
To go one step further, it has been said and many know this, that “the populace gets the leaders it deserves,” thus, what does that say about us?
In a sardonic, sarcastic tone (if that’s possible) my father would often say to me as I headed out the door to work, “Have A Nice Daaaay,” to which I’ll add: say your prayers and I don’t mean bedtime ones!
