Trump or Gump? Who’s the better fit?

DEAR EDITOR:

It is amazing how two little letters can change everything.

Suppose that a well-known person such as Donald Trump changed the ‘T’ in Trump to a ‘G’ and omitted the “r,” making it Gump, presenting a totally different character.

Donald’s new girlfriend would now be Jenny, and she would fall into a hippie movement. Donald would be drafted, serving in Vietnam, winning the Medal of Honor. Now, thinking differently about the Civilian Medal of Freedom, compared to that other Donald that we surely know.

Imagine Donald would never see New York or be in the real estate business. Instead he would end up at Pier 39 of Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. He would create the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company with a partner, Lt. Dan. Our Democratic Party would call this next thing “weird.”

Republicans prefer to trust the ‘T’ in Trump, compared to the rest of the world. It might feel safer with the ‘G’ in Gump. Isn’t it amazing, one letter changes everything as we know it.

“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get,” Forrest Gump said.

“That’s all I have to say about that.”
