DEAR EDITOR:
Rick Hernandez has proven himself as a trustee in Hubbard Township. He has helped the Hubard Joint Fire District grow from a volunteer to a full-time staffed department. Some of his greatest attributes are his negotiation skills and his ability to build relationships that will serve him well as a commissioner.
Rick will be a good watchdog of county finances. He has no plans to hire a costly county administrator and budget director. Hernandez has a goal of finding reliable county transportation at a reasonable cost without supporting a $7 million yearly sales tax that would become permanent.
Rick has been known to treat people with respect. He will work harmoniously with the other two commissioners. I am confident Rick will do his own research, ask probative questions and yet still be his "own man." He is the clear choice for county commissioner in the March 19 primary election.
