Chill Can fiasco has a fishy smell to it

DEAR EDITOR:

In 2016, Mitchell Joseph came up with a plan for Youngstown to develop its East Side. Hundreds of jobs were to be created and many of the people who lived in the neighborhood were “bought out” to develop the land.

It is now 2024, eight years later. Almost nothing is done. Those poor residents had to relocate to areas where they did not want to move.

What a disaster it has been. They can’t even get lawyers that want to be involved.

Youngstown made a commitment. The city gave them almost $2 million to help, along with tax breaks and incentives. What does Youngstown have to show for it all? Nothing!

Homeowners and other property owners who do the right things don’t get any tax breaks. Does anyone else smell a stinky fish in the weeds?
