Why do politicians reap so many benefits?

DEAR EDITOR:

For 43 years I paid for living expenses — multiple mortgages, utilities, food, clothing, etc. To be responsible, I paid secretarial and accounting services, postage, car (limo) expenses, private security systems, entertainment (parties, luncheons, dinners, etc.).

To relax, I received weeks of paid time off, first-class airfare, exotic vacations, and more, but I invested my monies wisely and accepting help from the right persons, knowing the right advisors, investing in the right markets, etc.

So today, as my health declines, my medical benefits exceed. For I am a politician, elected by the people to serve for the people!

Retirement, the dream of living on Social Security or receiving veteran benefits for a job protecting our country is questioned! Why can’t a wage freeze be put on those elected? Why can’t expenses be minimized and accounted for? Especially, as we, the Democrat and Republican American people, struggle.
