Workers should demand profitable wages

DEAR EDITOR:

According to Google, the yearly earnings for an American worker is $35,360, which would be $17 per hour for a 40-hour, 52-week work year.

If you double the $7.25 per hour minimum wage to $14.50 per hour, that would be $30,160 per year. This is before all required deductions: federal, state, county and city taxes; health care; rent or mortgage payments; car payments; all insurances; and gasoline, food, utilities, etc. $7.25, $14,50 and $17 per hour does not create an educated, healthy, working, crime-free society.

What creates crime and breeds disorder are greedy corporations and corporate businessmen giving all our good-paying jobs to Communist China and Mexico, America’s so-called “partner.”

That’s the reason banks are going belly up and businesses are claiming bankruptcy; workers don’t make enough money to save and spend.

The greedy multimillionaires and billionaires don’t want to share their profits and prosperity with the workers that made them wealthy.

Wake up American workers, demand a profitable wage for your work investment according to the total cost of living in our “We the people’s” America. This is our country. Workers built it.
