DEAR EDITOR:

President Biden’s March 8 press conference was riddled with lies. He said gas prices are high because companies won’t drill and are price gouging. He also said we were drilling more oil than ever before.

Companies won’t drill because of $120 billion in new taxes on drilling he instituted. In 2019, we produced 12.9 million barrels a day. Today it is 11.8 million barrels a day. And we import 800,000 barrels a day from Russia. Trump bought none from Russia. Biden buys almost a million barrels a day. For many days after the invasion of Ukraine we were still buying Russian oil. Who is Putin’s puppet?

XL pipeline that he stopped on Day 1 would be producing 500,000 barrels/day. Biden now talks about price controls on gas. Remember gas lines of the 1970s? Today, gasoline hit the highest price in history.

He also said we could stop this if we just buy electric cars. Electric cars are very expensive. A full charge lasts about 200 miles. New batteries cost thousands. But you can use the charging station at your local gas station. I’ve never seen a charging station. Gas has increased 45 percent and increases every day. Petroleum is in hundreds of products, not just gasoline.

Liberals won’t stop until we eliminate fossil fuels. Much of our economy is based on fossil fuels; the economy would collapse. What about the millions of gas-powered trucks and cars?

Biden said during his State of the Union Putin felt empowered because of Jan. 6. How about Crimea in 2014? He forcefully took Crimea, and our vice president who was in charge of Ukraine issues did nothing. He accomplished one big thing in Ukraine; he made his son, Hunter, very rich.

The military recently came out with a 2,000-page completed investigation stating Biden was repeatedly warned about withdrawal from Afghanistan. He declined advice from each branch of the military and did it his way. The results were horrendous.

And the scariest statistic of all is Biden’s approval rating. I hear 30 to 40 percent. Do any of these people buy anything today, or put gas in their car, or travel abroad to see how the rest of the world sees us? For every issue, Biden has another lie or blames somebody else, mostly Trump. He is the president. The buck stops with him.
