Trump responding well to health crisis

DEAR EDITOR:

Some Democrats and much national media have adopted President Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s cynical philosophy, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

House Democrats have seized our critical need for legislation to shore up our economy to provide money for citizens and businesses (employers). They have “ear- marked” money, aka pork, for unrelated purposes.

Joe Biden was in the Senate 36 years and vice president for eight. Bernie Sanders has been in Congress since 1990. Both were in office through West Nile virus, SARS, bird flu, swine flu and others.

What did they learn? Neither pushed policies to better prepare us for the current pandemic.

This is a time to unite and minimize the impact of this pandemic — to destroy it. Rather than respond to our president’s call for unity or to suggest helpful ideas, the national media’s default is hate-filled rhetoric and second-guessing decisions. Bill Maher is hoping for an economic recession to rid us of Trump. Elites like Maher never feel the pain of recession like most of us.

How many more lives would we lose if flights from China weren’t stopped? President Trump fought Democratic and media opposition to control our southern border. Would things be worse if we had opened borders?

President Trump assigned Vice President Mike Pence to champion our country’s fight. POTUS appointed director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, and world-renowned global health official, Dr. Deborah Birx, to lead our war on the COVID-19 pandemic. He is listening and acting on their recommendations.

Does anyone truly believe Democratic leaders could do better managing this crisis? Just imagine Biden with his mental acuity acting in the role of Mike Pence, or more tragically, as POTUS? That image should scare people; it scares me!
