I read Jane Timken's guest column in the April 12 Vindicator. While I will give her the benefit of doubt that her intentions were to support small businesses, I believe she missed a very important opportunity.
At this time, when we all are trying to support each other, why did she, as chairperson of the Ohio Republican Party, miss the opportunity to show bipartisan support for what is being done to help small businesses survive? Instead, she politicized the agreement that Congress negotiated to support her interest in gaining election points for the president and her party.
As I recall, both programs she highlighted had bipartisan support after many hours of negotiations. To say the president and the administration exhausted every option was a huge missed statement. She could have illustrated how Congress can work together in a time of crisis and put politics aside. The timing was perfect for her to show more.
Too bad she had to miss the opportunity and put politics ahead of reassuring the public we can be unified.
