This is an “onion” to those responsible for ignoring for far too many years the need to pave Unity Road between South Range and Garfield Roads. Patching and repatching this section for about 30 years just isn’t making the taxpaying residents on this road have a warm and fuzzy feeling. In fact, I feel like we are poor little red-headed stepchildren.

It was abhorrent to our countries’ founders to be subjected to taxation without representation. They fought a bloody war to fix that and other untenable conditions. As brilliant as our country’s founders were, they must not have foreseen a time when there would be representation without taxation. Nor did they foresee a time when politicians spend more effort to stay in office and enrich themselves, their family and friends than they spend doing the job for which they were elected.

Michael Bloomberg has thrown his hat into the ring of Democratic candidates for POTUS. It looks like he’ll try to buy the spot. He has over $50 billion to spend. Warren and Sanders are already complaining about this. I have concerns that he just might pull it off.

President Trump continues to lead from the autocrats’ handbook by undermining the Secretary of the Navy, after a Navy SEAL was punished for killing an ISIS fighter and posing with the body. Navy SEALs are proud and don’t pose with enemies’ bodies like a prized animal. This is what dictators do. They destroy the free press and tell people “Do not believe what you see or what you hear.” I think Trump gets his marching orders from Putin. Be careful America.

I’m a frustrated longtime YSU football season ticket holder. As we are rapidly declining, President Tressel and athletic director Strollo have tough decisions ahead. Although I called the athletic office six weeks ago, the men’s restroom has the same broken hand dryer, standing water in front of stalls for three seasons and the same 25-foot “horse trough” since Stambaugh Stadium was built.

Another deadly school shooting, and still the Republicans won’t agree to extend background checks on guns because the NRA stuffs their pockets with cash, ergo, Republicans don’t care about school shootings, even if the kids are 5 years old.

An official investigation, especially one of political (or religious) nature characterized by lack of regard for individual rights, prejudice on the part of the examiners and recklessly cruel punishments; any harsh, difficult, or prolonged questioning is called an “impeachment investigation” by Democrats. Dictionary.com defines the above as an “inquisition.”

On Jan. 20, 2017, Donald Trump was sworn in as 45th president. On Jan. 30 an email from attorney Mark Zaid said we can’t allow this; we must impeach Trump. This attorney is now the legal eagle for the first so-called whistleblower. Adam Schiff has orchestrated this impeachment inquiry circus to get Trump, no matter what. Starting Wednesday, they opened hearings on the inquiry. It will not be done fairly as Schiff has complete control on who, what, when and where. The witch hunt continues.

ICE agents and men and women in blue are becoming victims of what I call “Jane Fonda Syndrome.” It started with the Vietnam War. Our young soldiers were put in harm’s way, doing what was asked of them — very dangerous work to protect our country. Instead of being supported and thanked, they were vilified and spate on. That behavior toward our young warriors was wrong then! And the behavior of some toward ICE agents and our police is wrong now!

I want to thank the woman with a kind heart who maintains and seasonally decorates a little corner of my world regularly. As I drive from Hubbard to Youngstown and turn left onto Albert St. from U.S. Route 62 and state Route 7, I am uplifted by the lovely view she provides. I saw her there and wanted to stop, but had an appointment. I just want her to know how she brightens my day. May God bless her.

NYC is estimated to have at least 60,000 homeless. Mayor Bill de Blasio say he welcomes all homeless and illegals to his sanctuary city. But I just heard NYC is secretly sending its homeless to other states at taxpayers’ expense. I would laugh, but this isn’t funny if they send them to our area.

• It’s interesting that Youngstown is thinking about no longer using the speed cameras. When these cameras were first used, it was all about safety. As the money kept rolling in, more and more communities participated. Now all of a sudden when the camera money will be subtracted from the state monies, safety doesn’t seem as important anymore. Call it what it is, a moneymaker. Don’t insult our intelligence about safety.

• Imagine Hunter Biden’s interview with Burisma going something like this: Hunter, “Whatever I lack in business acumen and or in oil and gas industry experience is more than made up for by the fact that my father is vice president of the United States. And by the way, I can work only one day a month because I have a whole China thing going.”

• When Osama Bin Laden was killed under the Obama administration, the media and Democrats cheered and complimented the good deed. When Al-Baghdadi was killed under the Trump administration, national media and Democrats mourned and cried. One actually called this monster a religious scholar. What is wrong with this picture? How sad the national media and Dems have become when it comes to Trump.
