DEAR EDITOR:

Regarding the editorial, “Racism still plagues the U.S,” I just want to ask, are you serious?

Is the desecration and the dishonor of Emmett Till’s memorial really what it took for your epiphany to happen?

I guess you weren’t yet convinced when whites in Charlottesville marched with torches chanting “Jews will not replace us.” Or when Heather Heyer was run down by a white supremacist in the same city? Or when former KKK leader David Duke endorsed candidate Donald Trump?

A black family still makes around $20,000 less than all other families in America. The quality of black schools is far behind those of whites. The legal system has discriminated against blacks since our country’s founding.

But thanks for enlightening me on the obvious. I was in the dark till I read your editorial. I guess somewhere along the way I should have connected the dots.
