DEAR EDITOR:

I’m tired of so-called Hollywood elites always shouting for gun control.

I wholly agree there isn’t any place for citizens outside of law enforcement to possess AR-15s or the like, but we must be very careful where we draw the line on what we can own to protect our Second Amendment rights.

Let’s face it, if all our guns were taken from law-abiding citizens, when self defense is our constitutional right, we would always be at the mercy of the criminals who will be able to get their hands on any weapons they have the money to purchase.

In my mind, the bigger problem facing our nation, which the Hollywood elites choose to ignore, are the violent movies produced where blood and gore is shown and absorbed by sick-minded people bent on mass murder. It makes the mass murders perpetrated in the past 20 years or so pale in comparison.

Why aren’t they demonstrating against the writers and producers of these sick and degenerate movies? They won’t do that; there is too much money to be made. What about the violent video games that both father and son play together? No wonder we are a declining society. Whatever happened to “real” censorship in this country that used to apply to TV programs and movies, let alone video games?

After a mass shooting, we see law enforcement officials, mayors, governors or even the president, scratching their heads and saying, “I can’t figure it out. Why would they do such a thing?”

Why is it such a mystery? It’s the old saying, “garbage in, garbage out.”

Growing up in the late ’40s and throughout the 1950s, I can only recall one mass shooting in all those years. Why? Wholesome TV and movies that the entire family could watch together. Until society gets rid of filth on TV, movies and video games, the stupid politicians better stop with the stupid questions of “How could this be happening?”

Face it, it’s not going to get better until politicians get the courage to enact strict censorship. If not, then “garbage in, garbage out” will continue, and with it, the demise of the U.S.A.
