If I'm correctly reading Friday's Vindicator article on Youngstown's misspent money from water, wastewater and environmental sanitation funds for economic development, Mayor Brown says now Youngstown won't "have to ask the taxpayers to fix those bad habits" from previous administrations that used restricted funds for economic development. But wasn't spending a portion ($28,758) of those funds to buy an SUV for Mayor Brown also a bad habit?

As an investor in the ill-fated Girard Lake / dam purchase from 1995, I eagerly await its proposed sale. Purchase of this white elephant was financed by Girard water users. As such, I eagerly anticipate my speedy refund check for all principal and interest I paid as soon as the city closes on this sale.

Thank you to Youngstown Law Director Jeff Limbian for his dedicated service to the city. Be it murders, crime, blight, legal matters, he is the face people of Youngstown see. He can do something no other candidate for mayor can do. He can run on his record. Please let Carl Davis do his job. He's the right man and a good man.

I'm tired of people claiming to be "pro-life" who aren't. They are "pro-fetus" or "pro-birth." After birth, they couldn't care less what happens! Most won't adopt and support cuts to social and welfare programs. What kind of "life" is in store for children they supposedly cared so much about? They never give any thought to funding and systems needed for the child to have a life worth living. Issues like that aren't solved with "thoughts and prayers!"

Orchid to Kim Chiclowe, owner of "Color Me Crazy" salon in Struthers, for giving opportunity and support to young entrepreneurs. Josie Flora, who runs "Nails by Josie," was Kim's first entrepreneur addition. Kim's dedication to her craft and support of young stylists continued by adding Delani Rae Haas of "Twisted Scizzorz" to her salon. We all become successful when supporting each other.

Churchill scolded his predecessor as prime minister of England for appeasing Adolf Hitler with the Munich treaty saying, "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." A year later, Hitler declared war on his appeasers. GOP, you have dishonored yourselves and your country by appeasing the great lying fascist. Find your courage. Resist, and consign him to history's trash heap before he declares another attack on our country.

It would be nice if people would acknowledge with a "thank you" or "OK" when they receive a text or email with information they requested. The sender took the time to send it; the receiver should let them know they have it. Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.

Another tragic police shooting of a young black man occurred. He was stopped. Police found he had a warrant. He started fighting with police and was shot. They say the officer grabbed her gun instead of her Taser. She was incompetent, if this is true. One question is never answered -- why do young black men fight instead of complying? This man would be alive if he complied. If police violated his civil rights, many attorneys would take the case.
