James White 1943-2026

WASHINGTON, Pa. — James White passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was born Dec. 14,1943, in Youngstown, to Arthur and Dorothy James White. He worked for Winkle Electric before moving to Pennsylvania and retired from Rice Electric. His wife, Donna, preceded him in death, as did his son, Jeffrey. He leaves his daughter, Barbara Dalesandro, and two sisters, Barbara Queen and Diane Whitehouse. Mass will be held Monday, April 6, at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown.

North Korean who brokered Olympic joint marches with South dies

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Chang Ung, a former North Korean member of the International Olympic Committee who once led sports exchanges with rival South Korea, including joint marches of their athletes at the Olympics, has died, the IOC announced Wednesday. He was 87. The IOC said on its website that it had learned with “extreme sadness” of Chang’s death on Sunday. It said the Olympic flag will be flown at half-mast for three days at the Olympic House in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IOC statement didn’t describe the cause of Chang’s death.
