POLAND - William "Bill" Raymond Peters, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
William, known by his family and friends as "Bill," was born on Dec. 30, 1932, in Youngstown, a son of the late Robert C. and Mabel M. Dray Peters.
Bill was a graduate of Struthers High School and a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict before returning home to the area.
Bill worked as a lineman for Ohio Edison for more than 42 years before retiring in 1995.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland. He loved working with his hands and was affectionately known as "Mr. Fix-It" by his family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking, mall walking, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, the former Emily Lupo, whom he married on Dec. 1, 1956; five children, Mark (Joan) Peters of Winter Garden, Florida, Bill (Vicki) Peters Jr. of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Lisa (Bill) Gura of Stow, Michael (Carol) Peters of Poland and David (Michelle) Peters of Boardman; 12 grandchildren, Emily (Tyler) Thompson, Abby (Zach) Powell, Katie (Ryan) Puhr, Robbie Peters, Billy (Kim) Gura, Jena Gura, Kristin (Alex) Dahlberg, Leanna (Marc) Ruse, David (Hillary) Peters, Samantha (Brandon) Rosi, Andrew (Kristen) Peters and Raymond (Candace) Peters; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert C. Peters of Texas; and a sister, Carole L. Ruggieri of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Patricia Peters; and brother-in-law, John Ruggieri.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon Mark Izzo officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and Ellsworth V.F.W. Post 9571 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
