NILES -- Timothy E. Weddell, 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, surrounded by friends and family.
Born Feb. 22, 1950, to Tom and Kay Weddell, he grew up playing baseball and basketball while working at Weddell's Sohio and Weddell's Sunoco and as a lifeguard at the Waddell pool.
After graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1968, he volunteered to enlist in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees during the Vietnam conflict on the condition that his newly married older brother, Rodney, would be sent home. After serving honorably from 1968 to 1970, he returned to Niles, married Sandra Stabile, and started a family. He joined the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office shortly after, where he served till 1982, when an in-the-line-of-duty injury sent him into retirement.
He loved spending time with his friends and family and having lots of laughs. He also enjoyed classic/muscle cars, oldies music and John Wayne movies. Once he relocated to Arizona, he enjoyed trips to places like Lake Powell, Tombstone, the Tortilla Flats, Sedona and Bartlett Lake.
Timothy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Weddell; his mother, Kathryn Weddell; and his best friend, Matthew Ciminero.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Redman of Scottsdale, Arizona; his son, Timothy R. Weddell of Chandler, Arizona; his grandchildren, Haley Rose Weddell and Timothy Joseph Weddell, both of Chandler; his older brother, Rodney Weddell of Cortland; his sisters, Lisa Scala (Tom) of Howland and Reva Weddell of Niles; his stepsister, Tami Hensley; and stepbrothers, Kevin and Keith Salyers; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date, to be announced in the future.
