EAST PALESTINE – Sandra E. Riggs, 63, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, surrounded by family.
She was born March 14, 1963, in Youngstown, daughter of Eugene and Gerry Yurcic Riggs.
Sandy was a lifelong resident of East Palestine and a 1981 graduate of East Palestine High School. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Sandy worked as an X-ray tech and later in medical records for TMMG and Southwoods Health for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, especially Euchre, visiting casinos, zoos and fairs, and watching the Browns.
Sandy is survived by her mother, Gerry Riggs; two sisters, Sharon and Debbie Riggs of New Waterford; and two brothers, Michael Riggs of Bedford Heights, and Daniel Riggs of New Waterford.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Riggs; her paternal grandparents, Garfield and Laura Deem Riggs; and her maternal grandparents, Ferdinand and Helen Yurcic.
A Catholic prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine, with the Rev. Chad Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to services from 4 to 6 p.m.
Burial will be private in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
