Good election turnout expected in Mahoning, Trumbull

Ronald Decola

BOARDMAN -- Ronald Domenick DeCola, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Ron was born on March 1, 1962, in Youngstown, a son of the late Frank D. and Janet A. Babtist DeCola.

He was a 1980 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown and attended Youngstown State University. Ron was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.

Ron began working for Stambaugh-Thompson Hardware Stores in Youngstown. He later worked as a store manager for Ace Hardware in Grove City, Pa., until passing on.

He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Luke Church in Boardman.

Ron was a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle who cherished his family above all else. He was a great supporter of his children and rarely missed their school activities and sporting events. In his free time, Ron enjoyed cooking, teaching his kids to cook, and gardening -- both vegetables and flowers. Ron had a talent for fixing just about anything and loved working on projects in his home. He loved cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Youngstown State Penguins, Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. and Janet A. DeCola; and his brother, Frank DeCola.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 32 years, the former Michele A. DeCaria; his two children, Anthony DeCola and Mia DeCola; three sisters, Victoria (John) Thompson, Jean (George) Schidell and Patty DeCola; and Uncle John (Charlyn) DeCola; cousin, Christopher DeCola; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Philip and Andrea DeCaria; nephews, Michael (Lindsay) Schidell, John Thompson, Michael Thompson, Trever Valenti and Tyler Valenti; great-niece, Audrey Schidell; and two sisters-in-law, Susan (Jim) Valenti and Kim (Wendy Parkin) DeCaria.

Ron found joy in the companionship of his beloved pets.
